One day after FAR Exam

Well I took my exam yesterday and it was brutal. With the MCQs I think it went well, had questions out of left field which is typical and the second testlet was very hard (tried to rush thru it but nontheless finished it on 1 hour and that bombed me a little) but I think in overall I did good on MCQs. But for Sims it was a different story, I know I totally bombed one, did not know what to do on it and honestly it was from a topic I had never come across in spite of hitting the review phase on Ninja and reading the whole book. I had two research Sims so I don’t know if the Sim that I bombed was pretest. I felt my exam had a lot of calculations some of them pretty basic but some of them pretty difficult, specially in the second testlet.

So I guess you never know with these exams exactly how it went but right now I feel like I failed specially bc of that Sim and the two research questions that I am not so sure of(the other ones I think I did a little better than average). We will see on Feb 4th…

So you had medium/difficult MC and felt pretty good about it. You also only completely bombed one SIM. Honestly this doesn't sound that bad to me. I would bet you'll be fine. But I know that's not very reassuring until one sees the score for him/herself.

    BEC - 78 (August 2015)
    FAR - 80 (November 2015)
AUD - 73, 67. (Ok I gotta confess I was even more lazy this time around)

I guess that I am feeling like this bc I am counting the one that I bombed as if I had left it in blank. Hopefully I did well enough on the MCQs? 🙂

I just got done taking my exam today. The MCQ weren't too bad, had a couple that were complete guess. As for the sims, mine seemed fairly easy and I got through the MCQ pretty quickly which gave a good amount of time to use the authoritative literature. Should I be worried if my sims seemed easy? Everyone else I have heard from has commented on how hard their's were.

Also, how fast do you get the results (this is the first exam I have sat for)? I know the AICPA says they will be released by Feb 4th, but is there any chance it would come sooner? I'really hoping to sit again before busy season get in full swing if I didn't pass.

WAGN5R – you won't get your score until the release date of February 4th … the only thing that varies is the time of the release. NASBA states get theirs at 1am EST and the indie states vary, CA is about 6am PST.

You wouldn't be able take FAR again until April, anyway.

@WAGN5R SIMS are selected for you before you start your exam. So do not worry! 🙂

Don't underestimate the FAR curve. I have a friend who passed (by a good margin) without even finishing the SIM's…

I have a question. Is Exam Review Study Guide different than actual books or is it the same thing? I want to make sure I am buying right material. I am trying to buy it from Amazon or Ebay.

MaLoTu – Why can't i retake FAR until April?

I believe that you are only allowed to take each section once per window. This window lasts until the end of February and then March is a no test month. April is the first month of the next test window. If you want to get another exam in before the busy season I suggest studying BEC because it is the shortest.

If anyone can tell me that is Exam review study guide is separate than the actual books? I have Wiley Exam review study guide 2015, for example it has 13 modules which covers all FAR topics (example, Module 9: Basic Theory and Financial Reporting, Module 10: Inventory, Module 11: Fixed Assets and so on). Each module has related topics, key terms, mcq, simulations, no lectures or audio though. Will this be sufficient to study along with Ninja notes/lectures/audio/mcqs.

I think I completely bombed at least one SIM on every exam with SIMs and I passed with a pretty decent margin. I think you are good.
