Also, once it expires, the money's gone, so if you already have an NTS for FAR, you're better off going ahead and studying like mad and sitting. Take your chances. You never know, you might pass. If you don't, you've at least had another look at it.

After failing AUD recently when I Thought I had a chance to pass, I've decided I want to take more time to study for FAR instead of taking it at the end of this month. I'd like to reschedule it for April, but my Notice to Schedule date ends March 13.

How would I go about this? Can I cancel my exam, pay the $35 fee, and then have to wait for after march 13 to apply for a new notice to schedule and reschedule my test and it only cost me another $15 to apply for the new NTS?

Ok, so after I calmed down a bit (thank to my hubby) I concluded that I should not have to inconvenience myself too much more by having to drive or fly (because I have the hook-up) great distances to take BEC. I didn't have technical difficulties!

I called Prometric told them my issue and after they verified the information my exam was rescheduled for 2/4 (the first available date was on 2/2). They also provided me with the NASBA contact number. The NASBA customer service person transferred me to the person responsible for this issue and he is out until mid-next week. LOL...go figure! I send an email to the address provided and the auto-responder says that I should expect to get a response within 5 business days. Hopefully, there is more than one person who can help me resolve this issue.

Until then, I'll be using the extra time I have to study. I'll update when I get more information so that if this happens to anyone else they will have some guidance.

Maybe someone will have a better answer for you, but I "thought" that last year when prometric offices up an down the east coast were closing due to hurricane Irene, those candidates got some kind of extension on their NTS expiration. Just make 100% sure that would be the case.

Keep the evidence of cancellation and document your attempts to reschedule before your expiration. Contact Prometric and document your contact. If things didn't work out, contact AICPA asap and present them with all the documents. There is a good chance that they will extend your credit.

I definitely plan on jumping on this first thing tomorrow morning, but I am don't think I will be able to reschedule before 1/31 because we all generally plan months in advance to take these tests. I am trying to be positive though since I have more time to study. However, if I have to delay this more than 1 week - I'm gonna lose it. I am so ready to move on.

I was getting ready to print my NTS for BEC tomorrow morning at 8am and I noticed that I received an email from Prometric (Saturday morning) indicating that my exam was cancelled due to technical issues. OMG! My credit for REG expires on 1/31. Has anyone else run into a similar situation? Will I still lose REG if I can't take BEC before 1/31?

I am currently a college senior about to take my first exam. Washington State allows you to take exams within 180 days of your graduation date. I don't know about your state, but you might have to have your school send an inofficial transcript showing that you'll be eligible come May, which would allow you over your NTS. thats how Washington is, Ohio might be different.

Depending on your state, you do not have to have all 150 hours completed before sitting, just before you can get your license. Regardless, I would call my coordinator at NASBA and ask. Mine has always been incredibly helpful, even answering questions while I was in college about which courses would fulfill the requirements for the 24/24/150 and which might benefit me. You never know what tip or trick they might have up their sleeve to get you your NTS sooner.

I dont think you will have a problem finding a seat, but I doubt with that timeline your transcripts will be approved and an NTS issued. Start studying you will need it, what you learn in school is not on the CPA exam !

Not to dash any hopes for you but I had a similar plan as you for my first exam two years ago and I didn't get my nts until July, even though our exams and final transcript posting was in about the same time frame as yours is. Not sure if they have improved the wait times for processing the initial applications over the last couple of years or not.

That being said, I can't remember if I sent my application in prior to getting my transcript or if I waited until I had my transcripts.

Good luck to you in your studies and hopefully you can get started in May!

So here is my situation:

I am from Ohio and was fortunate enough to be able to graduate after 4 years of undergrad with 150 credit hours (due to bringing with me some AP Credits, taking the maximum number of credits allowed each semester, and taking a couple of online community college classes).

I am graduating on May 20th, and will begin working full-time with one of the Big 4 in late August. My plan for the summer is to pass all 4 parts of the CPA Exam. I would like to sit for 1 part end of May, 1 part begining of July, 1 part end of July, and 1 part mid-August. I will start studying for the 1st part as soon as my last final is over on May 10th.

I am just about to fill out and send my online CPA application and certificate of enrollment. However, I realize that I will not be provided with my NTS until they receive my final transcript with my degree posted. Even though my school posts our finals grades on May 14th, they will not send out my final transcript until May 18th, which means it will not be in the Board's hands until Monday May 21st. I have been told that it takes 3 days from when the final transcript is received to be emailed the NTS, so I expect to receive my NTS on May 24th. I also understand that exams must be scheduled 5 days in advance, so my only options for scheduling an exam in May are May 29th, 30th, or 31st.

What are the chances that on May 24th, I will be able to find an open seat to sit for the exam on May 29th, 30th, or 31st? I am in Cleveland, and willing to travel if necessary to sit (I understand it is OK to take the test at a Prometric Center out-of-state too, so I am fine traveling to Buffalo, Detroit, Pittsburgh, etc.)?

Because June is the blackout month for exam testing, I do not want to have to wait until July to take the 1st part of the test. I don't see my situation as that unsuual, which is why I am surprised I have not been able to find any information on it anywhere online.

Your advice and comments about how to approach this situation are appreciated

I am not a good example for anybody. I did this the HARD way. For FAR I only used cpareviewforfree.com and my old textbooks.

For BEC and REG I used the wiley books.

For AUD I used the wiley books, the wiley test bank and Jeffs ninja notes.

I studied a LOT, at least 2 hours a day during the week at least 6 hours each on Saturday and Sunday. And it was brutal and I didn't get much sleep and my grades in my M.S. program suffered a bit, and my kids ate far too much fast food :)

You only apply for certain test at a time. Once you get your Notice to Schedule you have like 60 days to schedule and take that test (I can't remember how many days it is).

But you can fill out a new application for another test if you were planning on taking it soon also. The price is going to be the same no matter how you do it.

I have a question--when I applied for the CPA exam back in September I only applied to FAR...I know seems stupid of me to do that since I have to take all of them. Now do I have to redo the whole application to apply for the other sections?? Shouldn't my information be saved??
This is annoying, I would assume that the information should be there...
Please help..

All that matters is that you sit for - and pass - the exam before the credit expires. You could get your score next Christmas and as long as that exam attempt on that day was a success, you're good.

Question: My REG credit will expire on July 25th, 2012 (the first exam credit that is due to expire). I only need to pass FAR to have all 4 complete. My concern is, if circumstances force me to take FAR in July, can I sit any day before the 25th, pass, and still hold on to my REG credit???

I guess the hypothetical situation I'm playing out in my head is: I sit for FAR July 20th, 2012. Score isn't released until (guess) August 6th.. however, regardless if i passed/failed I would have already lost credit for REG on the 25th of July.

Might be a dumb question but I figured you exam experts on here could help and give me some security.
