I'm having trouble re-applying to take the exam with the online system. I can log on and my past exams and scores are listed, but it's asking me to re-enter all my info, including all my educational credit hours and dates. Am I doing this wrong? I wouldn't think I'd have to do this each time I register. Thanks.

I think they're great. I have completed 3 and have 2 in process. They all count toward 150 for me in TN. You get an official LSU transcript just like you would for any other school in traditional classes. They will never know they were online, they just see the class name and grade on the transcript. I wouldn't say they are a joke. Some classes are easier than others but you teach yourself 100% so that can get tricky in some of the more difficult classes. They also have more higher level accounting classes than other distance programs like Advanced Accounting and Government/Not for Profit classes. Plus they are cheap and with my work and travel schedule I like going at my own pace.

I took three classes and Massachusetts counted them for my 150, and I assume NY would too. If you're really nervous about it call the state board to confirm but you should be fine.

I don't care if they're jokes or not (it's busy season as matter of facts and I just came back home half hour ago), just need the auditing credits for NYS.

Question:
How are they? I'm planning to take Auditing in order to be licensed in NY as well
Does NY Board accept Auditing from LSU Online (they should as it's an upper-level class...starts with 3 and LSU is regionally accredited).
I'm really having so much trouble with the NY Board (California gave my foreign degree 172 credits while NY gave 120) that I'm taking nothing for granted.

I have a friend that told me she knows someone who got GA to include their introductory courses. Does anyone know or have heard of that happening? Georgia doesn't allow lower division courses. So you have to get 30 upper division accounting courses which is really a lot. Most schools you get 24 upper division courses.

Katie, I live in the 'ham and all of my family was safe from the tornadoes. However, it did come about 1/8 mile from my in-laws house. Crazy stuff for January weather.

@katfid54. Thanks for the tip. I figured that was the case as it is uniform exam. From what I've found from the Alabama board, I think I can transfer once I pass or meet Georgia's licensing requirements.

I can answer question #1, but I don't know about question #2 (you'll presumably need to look at the Alabama board's reciprocity requirements to answer that question).

As for your first question, I live in Texas, but am testing through Illinois. You can absolutely take all of your exams near where you live--no need to travel to Georgia. That's the great thing about the CPA exam being "uniform"--it doesn't matter where you actually TAKE the exam!

I would appreciate any info that anyone could provide from experience in taking the CPA exam in a state and then transferring to another state.

More specifically, I live in Alabama and am looking at taking the CPA exam through Georgia so I can start right after i finish my MBA this fall. I did have a few questions that I can't seem to find direct answers from either state.

1. If I register through Georgia, do I physically have to take each section in the state?
2. If I pass the CPA in Georgia, do I need to meet Georgia license requirements first before transferring (reciprocity) or can I transfer to Alabama and then meet Alabama experience requirements to get licensed?

Any tips are appreciated.

The answer is No. They have become single Tier since 2006. I am in the same shoes as you are in. But I do have 133 credit hours. So what I am planning now is to get that 17 hours online ASAP and apply through Illinois. They are also changing the game. Its going to be one tier starting July 2012. I do not think that there is any state that would give you the certificate for 120 credit hours with no work experience. The best bet for you would be to go for 30 more credits, then you may have few options. Such as Colorado and I am sure there are few other states..I have been going through the same phase...read my posts...

@ Myeble

First of all, I am not from Arizona. My question was, I did not go to any college for the Becker review. But I went to the Becker review classes. Becker itself provided these classes and it was not throught any colleges or universities. So I was wondering if I could use these towards 150 credit requirement.

Also, I have passed all the four sections. If you need any help, you can count on me. I am staying free anyways, after passing the exams. And also, I love helping people. Thanks

I took Backer review preparation course and while I was browsing internet this after I found this info.

Please note that any Becker Uniform CPA Exam prep review courses you take can be counted towards your total number of college credit hours for certification; however, you should be careful not to take duplicative courses, as they may not be counted towards this requirement. For example, if you have any audit coursework in your transcript history, you cannot count the Becker exam prep audit review course towards your total number of accounting hours.

Has anybody from Arizona, shed some information on this. If indeed this info is correct, how would I prove that I took the becker review to the board, it won't be in the transcript...Do you know what I mean...Thanks

Sorry wish I could help...Its been so long since I put up my initial licensure....I remember I didn't qualify at first, and they sent me a letter explaining what I needed to do, and yes they kept my money LOL... I was short one business law class and one finance class. They are very specific on which courses you need to have in that 120...you can't have 120 worth of just plain old liberal arts and expect to be able to take the exam

I think if you withdraw your application you can get a partial refund, but if you want to apply again, you will have to pay again.

You'll lose your application fee, which I think is $125 for first time applicants in NY (or maybe $75). You have 120 credits though, that's all you need in NY to be eligible to sit. You must complete 150 credits to be licensed, but you can still take all of the exams. Hope that helps!

About to apply for CPA online in NY. Cost for application and FAR is $321. However I am not sure if I am eligible to sit for exam. I have over 120 credits but not a Bachelors Degree. What happens if I apply and NASBA says I am not eligible to sit yet. Do I lose the money

Difference in CPA from ICFAI and CPA (US)?
Is CPA from Icfai globally recognized?
I think its a lame question but then....Are there different set of question papers prepared in India for CPA (Icfai).. Are the subject patterns same in CPA(India) when compared to CPA (US)?
Pass Percentage (in India preferably)?
Cost structure of the program - Tariff in India - Tuition Fee - Exam Fee - Registration fee ?
Frequency of the exams in India?
How much Hours should I invest to crack ?

I have an undergrad degree in Finance and a MBA specializing in Accounting. I never had to take a tax or external audit class which are required to sit in Ohio. Is it possible to get around this and sit in Ohio. Or can I take it in another state if qualify to sit in that state and still have it apply in Ohio?
