cpasomeday,

I feel exactly the same way. I felt well prepared walking in and the MC questions seemed to confirm that. However, the SIMS were very difficult (all fill-in blanks - not many selection type). Like you said, more than anything was the time crunch made me feel very rushed and the amount of time to concentrate just wasn't there. I had 1hr and 12 mins for both sims, but barely made it through....and that was rushing through them. I'm just hoping that I did enough for the 75! Good luck.

I completely agree on the time crunch issue. I took the exam two weeks ago and felt really prepared walking in. I thought the multiple choice were ok for the most part but the simulations were awful. I found myself rushing through the first one (after panic set in) and then had barely 20 minutes left for the second. I completed the written portion, the research tab and part of two more tabs then I ran out of time. I just thought these simulations came out of nowhere and I definitely agree that they were way too involved given the time constraints.

MPoni - I took REG Saturday afternoon & yes was barely out the door when I asked WTF just happened. I was INside the door when I asked WTH is THAT. The prometric lady looked shocked & then just smiled like it was ok when I gave her an apologetic look. Same situation as everyone else - running low on time even though I read all about the time issues, entire tabs on the sims that were maybe 2 sentences in the review materials & a search function that I was about as useless as could be that I should have been searching online Christmas specials.

haha well for AUD i definitely felt prepared going in and came outta there saying ...YES...i think i passed! i did - i got an 84. REG...not so much. there is soooo much material. i just found my exam difficult. i didn't even notice whether the m.c. questions were getting easier or harder as i went through each testlet because i found SO MANY of them to be difficult!! lol. so who knows. maybe i will get a nice surprise and find that i passed??!! hopefully we find out sooner rather than later! on to BEC for now...

i am just hoping that everybody who sat for REG around this time didn't do so well either (but still passed!!!) haha so i have a better shot of passing with the whole scaling thing.

ksf105 - i have also heard about people not finishing a sim and still passing! :)

Oh, I'm already so used to "WTF just happened" feeling after CPA exam:-) No matter how hard (for BEC) or how little (for AUD and FARE) I study - they always find something to puzzle me with. especially in simulations of course:-)
I'm hoping for my intuition and smart guessing techniques to work - lol:))

MPoni, Your experience was very much like mine--hardly any business law here as well, and all the tabs on the sims were unrelated. It could go either way for me...I just feel good about the first MCQ testlet and the two written communications.

KSF105, someone in another thread described a REG experience similar to yours, hardly completing any of the second sim, and he scored an 88, so don't give up hope!

It's really hard to predict how you did because of the adaptive testing, weighted scoring, and test questions that don't count towards your score.

took REG today as well. YIKES. i hardly got any business law questions! the majority was business tax and felt that a lot of them were in depth. finished with 2 minutes left. i cannot even say if i think i passed or not. my sims were in depth so who knows about those. i do feel confident on both research tabs and 1 of the communication parts.

so i guess we have a chance of knowing our scores on december 15? if you didn't get any of the "new simulations" which we would have no idea of knowing (my sims were all unrelated so that MIGHT mean i got new sims..but i don't know). anybody else walk out of there saying to themselves...WTF just happened??!!

I used Becker; took REG this morning also.. MC seemed OK but by the time I was finished I only had about 40 min. for both sims.. I got through most of the first one (rushing) and completed maybe one and half tabs on the second.. I agree with Elissa about the sims.. In particular there is one type of income that Becker did not cover at all.. sure enough I was tested on that..If I scored 100% of the MC correctly I might have a chance, but thats not too likely. :(

I took REG this morning. Sims were different than those in the study materials, each tab was a different topic; lots of calcuations. Couldn't find the answer to the research tabs--search didn't seem to be working very well, and I don't know the code well enough to have an idea where to look. Written communications were actually the easiest part of the sims for me. As for MCQs, the first testlet was easy, but #2 and 3 were hard. I'm going to be cautiously optimistic that I passed, but really, it could go either way.

I took REG yesterday. I think I did great on the MCQs. But the SIMS were very difficult, I check my notes later and found out that I answered 50% of the SIMS incorrectly. I made stupid mistakes with the SIMS.

Overall, even though I didn't do so good on the SIMS, I think I got enough points to pass with a 75, I got a 74 my first time in July '09? I think I did better 2nd time around than the first time, unless the "so called curve" works against me.

Cc_cpa, i was getting first time middle 70's and second time high 80's on my homeworks. Well, depends on a topic.
Exam was strange to me - MCQ seemed manageable, but i wasn't sure if they were getting more difficult or I just didn't know topics they were testing on...
Simulations were nothing like I ever saw in my life. Topics not really covered anywhere. Memos long and and confusing... Ha-ha-ha... well, worst case scenario i'll retake it in January:-))

oh and Anna - on parol evidence rule...the way i look at it is anything that was talked about PRIOR to the actual agreement being signed, it is NOT allowed. (because it would contradict what the actual agreement says). anything agreed upon AFTER the fact..would be allowed (subsequent) ...hope that helps!

i also sit for REG tomorrow (11/30). not sure how i feel about it because i know they can throw pretty much anything at you when it comes to tax. i just hope the questions are not as in depth as they were for becker and i did find the final exams in becker to be really in depth! when i went back and was able to view the correct answers, for the most part they all made sense, which is good!

i will be back here tomorrow after my exam and let you know how it went! good luck to everyone else taking it tomorrow!

What are your average scores on the homework and final exams? Are you doing okay with distributions and liquidations for partnerships and corporations? I am struggling with those a bit. I think I got the basis parts nailed down pretty good.

Yeah, i am using Becker. I passed three other parts with Becker as well. I'm doing OK with homework... not as good as with auditing, but also not as bad as with FARE. Right now I am reviewing everything using Becker Final Review - I found it helpful in past.

cc_cpa
I have used Becker for all the exams and have found your situation very typical. I have done well on the MCQ but when it comes to the practice final exam I scored mid 60's for FAR and AUD and around 60 for BEC. I passed FAR and AUD with 80 and 81 respectively and am waiting on BEC score. The Becker practice final exams for BEC were absolutely Brutal. Thank goodness the real exam seemed much easier and am feeling confident about the results. I am currently study REG but have not taken the final exam yet. Most people say that you score about 15-20 points higher than the Becker final exams.
Good Luck on Monday.

If using Becker, are you doing ok on the regular homework? I do fine on the homework but I get between 50 and 70 percent on the final exam questions. I think everyone complains about the final exam questions. Are you using Becker? I take the exam Monday also. Maybe we can help each other.
