Guys, thank you very much for your help..
Another small question..
I assume the experience meant is in public accounting, is that right ?
Because I never had an experience in public accounting in USA, I worked with some government departments and some public entities overseas.. is it gonna work, or do I have to have a public experience before proceeding in the licensing stuff !!

Pathway 1 = 120 units and 2 years experience

Pathway 2 = 150 units and 1 year experience

Pathway 1 is going away soon. Neither Pathway is "better" as they both result in the same license.

And do I have to the community college stuff !? or it is better to select pathway 1 and save time and effort..
Actually, I still don't understand the difference between pathway 1 and 2, I also read on the CBA website that effective Jan 2014 there won't be pathway 1 any more, and everybody will be either pathway 1 with or without attest !!

No masters necessary. You just need to get to 150 units. Community college units are fine and cheap. That's the way to go if you are short.

You have to select a pathway (1 or 2). If you have 150 units, select pathway 2. Then you decide if you have attest experience and someone can sign off on your attest experience.

What does "licensure pathway" mean !?
That's in the application for Certified Public Accountant License (Form 11A-5)

SECTION V – PATHWAY CHOICE
Select a licensure pathway (check one)
Pathway 1 – with attest experience – requires 24 months of experience.
Pathway 1 – without attest experience – requires 24 months of experience.
Pathway 2 – with attest experience – requires 12 months of experience.
Pathway 2 – without attest experience – requires 12 months of experience

@Mina- Start filling them out and sending them in now. Don't wait for the letter. Consider me your letter. "Congrats on passing. Fill out your paperwork and pay us more money." ok, get on it. You won't get your certificate for another 8-12 weeks. You need to be licensed first.

You have to fill out all of the required forms based on what type of candidate you are (A-F). The handbook should have all of the information you need, but yes, there are 4 or 5 forms that you'll need to fill out. You also have to have your boss sign off on your experience. He/she will fill that form out and send it in.

In CA you have to do the one offered by CalCPA.

http://www.calcpa.org/Content/educationfoundation/candidates.aspx

Join CalCPA first and save some money. Free membership the first year. No brainer. I dont think you need to join the AICPA yet.

Waiting on results for REG, figured I'd start on the "ethics" portion. Am having a bit of trouble figuring out all the details/discounts available for different societies.

AICPA - This is the national group. I've heard that there is a discount on state level ethics material if we join? There are different options but looking to join the "associate" or "affiliate". Affiliate is supposedly $35?

CalCPA Ethics Material - They seem to be the issuer of the ethics exam in CA. The ethics material prices said $150 for non-member, $125 for member. Are they referring to a CalCPA "Candidate" membership. Looks like for CAL CPA its free for the first year an $50 for 2nd? Then bumps up to the "Associate" afterwards which is close to $500.

So, joining CalCPA makes sense now as we get a $25 discount for free...what is the benefit of joining the AICPA prior to actually getting licensed? Just curious if anyone has been there before.
