Can I mail them all together? Will I confuse the IRS? I think I was told to mail them separately years ago… I have 5 different companies I’m mailing the 1096’s in for, all related, NPO’s… What do you CPA’s and future CPA’s think?

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

I think you should be efiling these!!!!

I personally would send them separately. The IRS gets confused very easily.

CA CPA - All because of the journey listed below
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    FAR - 53('10), 8/25/12 79 PASSED!
    REG - 66('11), 69('12), 12/06/12 77 PASSED!!
    BEC - 58('10), 74('12), 01/05/13 77 PASSED!!!
    AUD - 43('11), 66('12), 69('13), 74('13) 7/29/13 85 PASSED!!!!!

Yeah, we are way behind the times… Running GP 10 over here, which came before GP 2010. We have to use the flipping typewriter for those 1096's. Also, I'm one of two senior accountants and the other one makes copies of her columnar pad paper to write up JE's. And she also keeps her Excel files conveniently filed in her folder called…. “EXCEL” I could go on… I love my job though… ha! At least I passed FAR, one step closer to the promotion I should've had months ago.

Oh and thanks for the input ladies!!! Now I'm still not sure what to do… One vote for mail them all together and one vote for don't over estimate the IRS's ability to mess this up.

We literally send hundreds of them together and have never had a problem, but that's just my experience.

I'm going to risk it and see how it goes… I'm sending them cerified return receipt and I have scanned copies.

Do not mail them together. They need to be mailed separately – as well as you need to request a return receipt. I have many years' experience with 1099s/1096s and have had several instances where the IRS claims they didn't receive the package.

What is your experience with efile? Bad? I am really curious based on your reply above. Not responding to your claim that I am young, just honestly curious. I have done both mailing and efile before. Thanks!
