How much should I stress over the difference between GAAP and IFRS?

If you could give me five topics to make sure I have down perfect, what are they?

It is important to know the differences. I took FAR last year, don't remember the topics, but I had all the differences memorized that Yaeger had pointed out.

    FAR - 81 29th Aug 2013
    AUD - 84
    REG - 82
    BEC - 89 29th Aug 2014
    Using Yager

If I had to pick one topic to know better than any other topic, it would be IFRS; the examiners love it.

I copied the pages at the end of each Becker chapter that had the GAAP vs IFRS rules and I carried those around with me and looked at them whenever I got a chance.

    FAR- 70, 68, 90
    AUD- 72, 85
    REG- 74, 83
    BEC- 81
    ETHICS- 90

    CA CPA
    CMA

Thanks!! Onmyway82 that's a good tip! this is my last section I just want to be done with it already. Its been hard to get rolling with this one, I believe, because of how much information there is. Its really intimidating right now so Im just trying to attack this in the best way possible.

    AUD – 83

    REG – 84

    BEC – 82

    FAR – TBD

I think you should know that a lot of the rules are the same with slight differences or different names for things,

like ‘presentation currency' rather than reporting currency

Fair Value through Profit or Loss instead of Trading securities

no LIFO, no completed contract, no extraordinary items in IFRS

lower of cost or NRV not lower of cost or market

no exact % cutoffs when accounting for capital leases

interim f/s are integral part of annual f/s under GAAP, discrete reporting period under IFRS

determine segment reporting with ‘management approach'

    etc.

FAR - 89 (8/19/14) Wiley TB, Wiley Book, Books from School, Ninja Audio/Notes
AUD - 92 (10/14/14) Wiley TB, Wiley Book, Ninja Audio
BEC - 82 (5/8/15) Mostly Ninja MCQ, sprinkles of Becker lectures and Ninja Audio
    REG - (8/14/15)

I'm hoping for some pretty basic IFRS questions, but as with everything with this exam, I bet that is too much to ask.

What do they call an accounting person, who only managed a 75 on all four parts of the CPA exam....you got it, CPA!!!

    BEC (2/28/16) ----- 78
    FAR (09/10/16)-----
    AUD
    REG

    CIA, CGAP, CFE

I was baffled by a lot of the IFRS questions I had on my FAR exam. Make sure you know the basics and pray.

    FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
    AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
    BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91

So for IFRS if i to go through the differences between GAAP and IFRS mentioned after each becker chapter is that enough or i need to refer to other materials ?

    Reg 78 / 73/82.
    Aud 74/89.
    BEC 72 /78.

There was one question I had that I know for sure Becker didn't cover and two I think that barely got mentioned. It's so broad, though. Becker should be enough for most stuff but I'm not sure how'd you fill in the gaps without devoting way too much time to it.

    FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
    AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
    BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
    REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88

It's so hard to feel fully prepared for this exam. Everyone mentions, “you got to know: cash flow stmts, ifrs, JEs, along with EVERYTHING else” Exam in less than two weeks…. Cashflows are so confusing for me. I am going to review more and more of IFRS also.

    BEC - 81 4/08/14
    FAR - 80 8/25/14 Thank you Jesus!
    REG - 69 (Nov 14),80 1/08/15 Thank God!
    AUD - 70 (May 14), xx 5/1/15

I definitely wish I was one of those people who got all 4 exams done in 4 months, but unfortunately LIFE (being a newlywed, stress, adjusting to newlywed life and cpa exam study life, as well as starting a job with a Big4 which I am very happy about) got in the way, just happy that I am passing period!!

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
