Hi everyone,

I have just started my CPA journey and planning to apply for my first exam in about 2 months. I am wondering when I will be informed of any possible academic/education deficiencies for licensure? I submitted an education pre-evaluation for the CPA exam (in Mass) and got to know what credits I was lacking to take the exam. However, that pre-evaluation did not tell me about what I lacked for licensure. So I am wondering if I will be informed of any possible deficiencies for licensure when I apply for my first part of the exam? or is there another evaluation request that I need to submit? I did research but unfortunately did not find any answer regarding this question, and really hope you guys could help me out.

I have a deadline to complete all educational requirements for licensing so I really need to know what I am lacking. I know I can use the guidelines provided on NASBA website to figure this out, but I am worried that maybe the way I count some credits could be different from how NASBA does.

Unless something has changed, no you will not be notified of meeting the licensing requirements or not upon applying for an NTS. You would be notified when you apply for a license if you are deficient. Try calling the board, I found them to be very helpful (although there were some long waits to get to a person).

I was/am in a similar situation. After I received my initial pre-eval I called to try and understand how they figured I was short 12 credits. After our conversation I was in excess by 6 credits.

Just call them. My state's NASBA rep is kind of worthless but you can at least get in a conversation with them. Also, whenever we reach a verbal conclusion I ask that they send me a letter acknowledging the changes.

Thank you both so much for your advice! I called in and the coordinator actually sent me a more detailed evaluation indicating what I am lacking for both the exam and the licensing! Thanks again!
