Accounting Job Titles

    I’m currently in the beginning stages of browsing for a new job. I have about 3.5 years of solid accounting experience split between time as a tax auditor with the state and an internal audit gig at a mid size public corporation. I recently passed my CPA and I’m starting to get a good idea of what I want to do for the rest of my career and where I want to end up. I’m curious as to how you view job titles associated with positions (ex. Associate, Senior Associate, Supervisor). Would you put value in a Senior job title over a Staff or Associate position just based on job title?

    Sort of not understanding what you mean. My buddies at Deloitte are called Audit Assistants, but they do the same thing that I'll be doing as an Audit Associate. I wouldn't place too much value on it.

    FAR = 86 4/22/16
    BEC = 80 6/01/16
    REG = 07/26/16
    AUD = ?

    I'd say yes, as a general rule.

    Staff < Senior < Manager < Sr. Manager < Director/Controller < VP < SVP < C Suite

    I went through this process a year ago. Any other questions?

    EDIT: It can get more nuanced than that, but you'd have to provide specifics for us to really comment.
