I don't care for Peachtree, especially if a client is using it. In my opinion, it will give you just enough to rope to hang yourself if you don't know what you are doing. Most of my clients aren't technically capable of using it without making a mess. The majority of my clients use Quickbooks, but we use Client Accounting Suite from CCH Small Firm Services for Write Up's and ATX for tax returns. ATX has Payroll and Fixed Assets modules that I believe are add on's, but worth the extra money. I really like the Write Up program.

Not a CPA but us government contractors use Deltek Products (GCS, Costpoint). Quickbooks is awful for anyone that needs any type of internal control/system checks and balances and payroll w/ QB is even worse.

We use Great Plains and also have a company on Quickbooks. We are overdue for an upgrade and I'm looking forward to that and hopeful that we can gain more efficiency when that happens. Overall I like Great Plains though, it is very intuitive being that it is a Microsoft product.

I worked part time at my university and they had some ancient system, like the black screen with green font and reports that printed on that barred paper with the holes on the sides… That was 9 years ago, but even then it was behind the times.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.
