    I submitted my resume and cover to via https://accountemps.com/ for an accountant position. I got an interview next week. I don’t know, much about accountemps.com and how it works. My friends are telling me, they will just waste my time by send me to Temp jobs only. Right now I don’t work, I would like a FT jobs.

    Has anyone used this site and landed a good job or at least went from Temp to Perm.?

    Accoutemps is Temp jobs only. You should be working with Robert Half – their full-time counterpart – for full-time jobs.

    @K917 isn't accountemps.com part of Robert-half Co.?

    Yes, but Accountemps handles temp jobs, Robert Half handles full-time. I'm sure there's possible overlap occasionally, but Accountemps specializes in temp jobs, while Robert Half is geared for full-timers.

    Yes I know more than one person that landed a temp job through accounttemps and were then offered full time positions because of it. If you aren't working, these are all good experience building positions that last 6 weeks-12 months and often times can be offered as a FT position. Go ahead and pursue them, all options are a good start.

    @k917 and @tomq04 Thank you.

    I will try going there next week and request for FT jobs rather than Temp, and see if that works. reason I don't need temp job, because I have met all requirements for CPA, except for 1yr experience. so I don't want to waste my time here & there.

    I'm going to sign up with accountemps because I need experience for auditing, I figure if I do the temp work I can get paid and get experience all in one. I live in a small town, so when the other cpa's found out I am taking the test, well the spirit of intimidation is in the air where no one is willing to let me work and audit with them for experience. So I am going another route. Somebody will let me get that audit experience. So going with temp agencies is not all bad, it just depend on what you want to do,

    I have a friend who is a recruiter for account-temps. Yes many of the jobs are temp, but they are temp-to-full time positions pending your capabilities. There are many smaller CPA firms looking for an extra hand that I am certain would consider hiring someone full time if they pass the CPA and are good at their job. no?

    Just remember ~50% of the jobs they list don't even exist. They'll make up an imaginary job to list to get resumes off the street. Then they start cold contacting businesses or calling businesses with legit job listings to “pitch” a great candidate they are working with.

    Wow I didn't know that. So should I go to the actual office? I really don't want my resume floating around if a position does not exist

    It's probably still worth it. There's just as good a chance they do have that job available. But a large part of their day is spent on the phone soliciting potential employers (I get calls at least once a month) looking for positions to be filled, not many employers reach out to them first, honestly.

    Just over a year ago, I was nine months out of college with my B.S. in Accounting, doing construction work with my dad because I hadn't been able to find a position with any of the accounting firms I'd applied to. I registered with several temp agencies because I couldn't think of anything else to do. One of the agencies placed me with my current company in an entry-level position. Now, a year later, I've been promoted twice, and have been reporting directly to the VP of Finance. So yes, you can find good jobs though temp agencies. There's a lot of not-so-good mixed in though.

    Don't even bother with Accountemps since it is only temp.

    Robert half from what I hear is for experienced accountants who for some reason don't have a network and need a recruiter, but from looking at other posts of yours I'm sure you're not that experienced.

    I would say temp is only a last resort if you absolutely cannot find anything.

    I had a bad experience with Robert Half. They sent me for an interview for a possible employer but when I showed up in the place, they told me that the one who will interview me is absent that day and Robert Half should have informed me. I'm so pissed to know afterwards that the Robert Half staffer has just forgotten to tell me that the interview was postponed.

    I signed up and interviewed at accountemps 2 months ago. They haven't contacted me even one time regarding any jobs. I agree with a previous poster that said they create fake job postings. Honestly, accountemps might be good for A/P or bookkeeper positions, but for anyone that wants to be a cpa or work in a perm role, they suck.

    I wouldn't even waste my time signing up with them unless you are desperate.

    tbh, i dont see a down side with having recruiters working for you. You dont pay for their services and ultimately its your decision if you want to go to the interview or accept the job offer. I have a mutual understanding with my recruiters (one happen to be a Robert Half), they always ask me first if I want to apply for the position instead of just submitting my resume randomly.

    My last two jobs have been through the recruiters so I really dont have any complain about recruiters.
