so a friend of mine is working in audit at a big firm (tier right below big 4) for about 1.5 years and is interested in trying to get into big 4 for a few years after the upcoming busy season. i could not really offer him any advice on how to make the move other than just applying through the firm website because 1) i have only been working at my big 4 firm for about a year. I would assume it would be ridiculous if i tried to get him an interview since i have no say in the firm since i am still considered an intern 2) were in different service lines

anyone have any advice/experiences from moving to a big 4 from a second tier firm? fyi he has his cpa and a MSA and im pretty sure his gpa is at least a 3.3 if that even matters anymore.

Drop an email to audit recruiting at your firm with your friend's resume; you have no weight in hiring decisions, but internal references are always appreciated by recruiting, and it could turn into a bonus for you 🙂

Additionally, your friend should apply on your firm's and all other Big4 websites. Public likes experienced hires, your friend should have no problem getting interviews.

If your friend has his CPA and a pulse, it shouldn't be a problem….Big 4 IMO is not overly selective. From my graduating class, almost every single person in my accounting program went to Big 4. Those who didn't went to places like Morgan Stanley, etc. .

I would email or talk to your recruiter. When I worked in audit, I recruited a college friend and got a bonus… Then I recruited her to the next place I went and got another bonus… A few grand each time…
