    Hello,

My husband is taking Auditing at the end of this month. He has passed it before but his score expired. He has to pass it end of this month or another one falls off. He says that pass or fail he is done. He has been studying for over 2 1/2 years. I am really stressed out about him passing. I want him to pass because it means so much to him. I do not understand how this whole thing works. He used Gleim materials for all the other tests and for this one he is using Ninja MCQ. He is swamped at work and working a little less than 45 hours a week and has a 1/2 an hour commute each way. I get home from work and basically go to sleep so he can study without me distracting him. His trending scores in all six areas are above or around 80%. I really have no idea what that means. Can someone explain if the scores and questions really correlate with the test. I don’t want his ninja scores in the 80s and then him get a 60 or something on the test. What can I do to help him? What should he really focus on for this test? Anything you have to say to me will be helpful. I am so desperate for him to pass he doesnt need an 80 on the test just a 75

It's very easy to memorize concepts without understanding them in this exam. I would say to make sure he understands why the right answers are right and why the wrong ones are wrong. If he can say in his head why an answer is right prior to answering, then he's going to do fine. He also needs to take his time and read through every question and answer. My AUD exam was completely out of the blue compared to what I had been used to seeing and I made sure to read the question and answers slowly to make sure I didn't miss anything. One small word can change the dynamic of the question since most of the time you're deciphering what is the “best” answer and not necessarily the “correct” answer. Like the above said. Do not let him give up. If you want, ask him if you can call out flashcards to him. You can even suggest to get the ninja audio for his commute back and forth. The more he sees/hears the info, the more he'll retain and the better his chances of passing. Good luck!

    FAR 8/18/2014--87
    AUD 10/18/2014--78
    REG 11/24/2014--76
    BEC 2/28/2015--76

EMM25 – the fact that he has your support is amazing! You are a true supporter of your husband, and I love that in you! All you can do is encourage him and push him to move on. Not everyone has the support your husband has and I hope he knows how lucky he is!

I also love that you know what ninja is, his trending scores, etc. You're very involved – good for you!

I have a very supportive husband and it makes this miserable process a little easier. I'll never forget his support as I'm sure your husband will never forget, either.

Jeff – do you need to start another site or place where spouses can write into? They probably need support as well =)

The fact that he passed AUD already once, and that he is doing well on the practice questions bodes well for him. Of course its not a guarantee but most folks Ive seen here that did that well on the Ninja MCQ go on to pass.

The one suggestion if you're taking these back to your hubby was that I bought the ninja notes and copied them word for word 10 pages per day, which really reinforced the concepts for me personally.

Other than that I think you as a wife are doing all the right things for him. Keep on being supportive, ask him if theres any way you can help and NEVER let him give up on this.

    @EMM25

He is very lucky to have someone as supportive as you!! Not everyone has that luxury. Fortunately, I did and it really was the difference between passing and failing. Does he have the Ninja Audio? What helped me turn it around with AUD was one weekend, hubs and I were painting the interior of a house together. I put the AUD audio on a speaker so we could both hear. While were painting walls in the same room, he got to hear the awesomeness of AUD. And after Jeff would talk about a topic, I would explain it in my own words to dear hubby. He didn't understand the bulk of it, but he was so sweet to listen and would even ask questions about it.

Maybe you could find a way to do something like that with him? I know it meant the world to me to have someone so supportive they would share in my misery. Also, he can listen to the audio during the commute, my commute is a bit longer than that, but it really helped to hear it repeadedly.

Best of luck to your hubs! If he is not a member here, maybe he should be? He could jump into the AUD study group where people throw out questions and discuss why things are right or wrong. It also helps knowing that you're not alone in this awful journey. I got inspiration after my first fail from seeing people with numerous fails in their signature lines but kept going and finally achieved their goal.

Please keep us updated on how you two are doing šŸ™‚

EMM, quiz him on audit reports. Make sure that he knows all the tricky language that changes based on accounting service provided. Speaking things out loud really helps to identify where your knowledge is not as solid as you think.

Also, you are an amazing woman. Make sure to treat yourself as well as him once he passes AUD.

I wish my wife said a fraction of what you said. I'm amazed that you know what his trending score is.

I hope your husband takes good care of you and treats you well.

I am about to take AUD in a few days and I am totally fried. I have a trending score of 95. I don't want to study another minute for this test. I have a young friend across the country who is my little accountability partner. But its either silence or complaining at home. Bless you for being so supportive.

    hey!

I was in this exact situation! I failed FAR and AUD expired. I got fed up, I got angry and I decided to get even and go out with a bang. I squeezed through FAR the following attempt and then went overboard on audit – literally cranking study time up to 11 – in a perverse push through the pain. Passed audit with an 88.

A lot of this is psychological, and thus changes from day to day. My emotions ran the entire gamut, I'm just happy I sorted myself out and put this thing out of the way once and for all.

Thank you all for your kind words. Made me feel so much better. I know he is going to re write the notes atleast once before the test and I will discuss the audio with him. Good luck to you all. I'm sorry this process is so hard but it will be worth it in the end for you!!!

Congrats on being such a supportive spouse. My spouse gave me space and time while I was studying for exams for about a year, and I truly appreciate him for that.

Has he passed any other sections of the exam? His trending score is pretty good, but it's not a guarantee of passing. Since he passed AUD before, he should have an idea of what he needs to do, or if he has any weak areas where he needs to focus.

Does he visit the forums here for tips? He may find some encouragement by coming here and reading around.

So, he is saying PASS or fail he is finished? A pass may give him a boost to keep going. Try to encourage him, but be careful that you aren't putting too much pressure on him. I'd suggest asking him what he needs as far as support goes.
