So i found out i failed last night with a 74. I am torn because i felt good on the MCQ but the SIMS i knew would be the deciding factor. I seem to struggle with SIMS on FAR. I have the Ninja FAR Book and CPAExcel. My question is for my retake how long should i spend on it and which material do i use?

    FAR - Passed 4/2016
    AUD - Passed 11/2015
    REG - ?
    BEC - 05/28/2016

I think you should supplement with the Ninja MCQs and Audio. I also used Roger's CRAM for my retake of FAR. I was able to increase my score from a 69 to a 79.

Ninja MCQ do around 1500 MCQ and at least 35 TBS you should be good…<—- this would probably be overkill since you are allready so close to passing….another week of heavy MCQ

@qfolmar – what main study material did you use for FAR? I am using Becker and I feel the materials are overwhelming..

    I got 72 on my retake 🙁

Well i used CPAExcel and tried to throw the Ninja Book in at the last second. How long should i study for my retake?

@qfolmar is the CRAM really that good? And would you recommend still using something else and supplementing it with CRAM?

    @ mminichan,

I used all of the NINJA products, Wiley MCQs, and Yaeger's lectures, initially. For my retake, I supplemented Roger's CRAM and ensured I did every NINJA MCQ and rewrote the notes twice! Roger's energy kept me locked and his mnemonics allowed me to remember some of the more tougher topics.

    @ kyle.brown,

Being that you were so close to the 75, I would only supplement with NINJA MCQs.

    @ kyle.brown,

I misread your post, I didn't realize you had already supplemented NINJA MCQs. I think Roger's CRAM would definitely be beneficial.

    @qfolmar

Who would you rate Roger CRAM for FAR?

I love Roger lectures but he will gloss over the important small details; with Sales Leasebacks for example. He does not show the journal entires that are vital to understanding the deferred gain that offsets interest or rental expense.

    Is CRAM like that?

I take FAR for the second time tomorrow but I am not good on the small details. I did all 1700+ NINJA MCQs and trend 65-75% most of the time but when I go back the read the Roger book I freak out about how many details I do not know inside out. Governmental is my worst area by far.

I know CRAM is limited to how many times you can view it and you get a book in the mail. My regular Roger runs out in mid March which is not a problem because I am done with lectures and prefer NINJA for MCQs.

How would you rate the CRAM book?

Hopefully, I pass and none of this is needed but I want to have this info.

    @ Brown

Just found my score was 69, very depressing. But, I pretty much knew I failed as I only had 70m for the SIMs, which I did not finish 2 of them.

I finished the GLEIM FAR section with a final test score of 65 and I did Ninja MCQ for about 30 hours trending around 72% with about 1000 mcq and about 30 SIMs.

@Qfolmar : Do you think the Roger CRAM can help that much?

I am currently confused on the next step, and any ideas are greatly appreciated!!!

I started studying for REG to be tested at end of May, so should I try to study and retake FAR in April or just wait till I finish REG and retake FAR in July?

I feel like I need to hit FAR real hard since I have an idea on the actual exam and my weak area, I just need to focus on full comprehension and know the JE really well.

I retook FAR yesterday. I felt like the MCQ this time around were harder than the first two times I tested.

I decided whether or not I pass or fail, I'm moving on and taking Audit in April and Reg in late May.

I can't stand studying FAR anymore. It stressed me out too much.

@DLu If you've already started studying for REG then just keep going with that. I failed FAR the first time and took a break with a different section and it kind of helped to get my mind off of it for a while. I agree with hitting the pain points. I struggled a lot with government and not-for-profit accounting and I actually pulled up a state's financial statements to see how everything was laid out and it really helped me get an overall understanding of what I was studying.

    FAR: 70, 77
    REG: 80
    BEC: 85
    AUD: 70, 68, 72, retake 4/2016
