Advice needed from current/past Deloitte employees

I started working about a little over a month ago. I’ve met just about everyone in my service line, and have worked on a few engagements already. I’m doing well and I enjoy the work. However, I’m not sure who to approach with this: I’m pregnant and due in 6 months. I’ll need to bring this up soon in a conversation with someone.

I’m asking about Deloitte specifically because of the structure – I just don’t know who I should talk to first. Is this something I would bring up with my counselor? There are several partners (with large families) who have open-door policies that I could speak to as well. Should I bring this up with HR first?

I don’t intend to switch service lines – I really enjoy the work and the people, and look forward to coming back from leave. I’m just not sure who to talk to about this, since I don’t exactly have 1 manager. I help out wherever help is needed at this point. Any advice would be appreciated!

Edit: Just to put it out there, I’m married and childcare is not going to be a problem for us. Most people know that hubby is a student, and able to care for our LO while I’m at work during the day.

Bad timing, you're supposed I shoot for the kid to be born at the beginning of busy season 😉

Start with talent (or the people who do the scheduling), they'll make sure your schedule is updated accordingly and from there you fill out a small form to finalize the dates and get approval (talent, you counselor, etc can sign off).

Its not a big deal to get it done. D&T is a big organization with hundreds or thousands on maternity leave at any given point in time.

I'd start with Talent/HR. IMHO Deloitte has grown to be more “family friendly” and all of the working women I've known are very happy with the leave benefits, etc….
