Advice on Exam scheduling strategy

I am taking FAR on 10/2, and it will be my third exam. I passed AUD and BEC earlier this summer. I studied for all three of them full time pretty much after I graduated in the spring because my job doesn’t start until October 13. My NTS expires on November 15, a little less than a month and a half after I take FAR so I scheduled my REG exam on that day.

I’m worried that I won’t be able to be prepared though, since I will have started work 11 days after I take FAR and considering that I had around 3-4 weeks of full time studying for each other section (and I felt like I really needed those weeks..) and this time it’ll only be around 5 weeks with a full time job part of the time. I do plan on studying the day after I take FAR to try to get a head start as much as possible, but am I being unrealistic thinking I can take REG so soon after?

I really would love to finish all the exams before the end of the year because I know busy season will start in January and I probably won’t be able to have time to take the exam until mid next year, but I don’t want to risk forcing myself to take it early just to fail and have to get a new NTS anyway.

So should I just get a new NTS now just so I can take the exam at the end of November as opposed to taking it mid November? Will the extra two weeks of studying be worth the $200+ (UGH sidenote: I really need my first couple paychecks!) I have read that REG is a beast, but is there enough overlap from the previous sections that I can catch on quick?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated! You guys are awesome.

    AUD - 76
    BEC - 86
    FAR - 78
    REG -73, 69, 86! DONE

10 days of studying full time plus 5 weeks of studying while working full time is plenty. I took 6 weeks total and managed to pass with only 2 hours on weekdays and 4 hours each weekend day. It will be stressful and exhausting especially while you're getting used to a new job but if you take a deep breath it will work out.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

I work full time and started studying for REG the day I took FAR, which gave me exactly 7 weeks to study for REG. It seemed like just enough time (not too little, not too much– just right, cue Goldilocks). So with a week or so of full time studying in your 1.5 months total, that sounds doable. I don't know if you can get a new NTS while you have an open one anyway, so you'd probably have to either take the test by 11/15, or let it expire and then get a new NTS. But I think you can do this and pass.

It was very tiring going right from FAR to REG, but worth it.

    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

    Thanks, Stamata!

With little time to waste, my advice would be to set out a schedule of which chapters you'll cover each day/week, and then stick to it. Allocate about the last 2 weeks to reviewing.

For REG, first I quickly read the professional responsibilities and business law chapters (about 1 week) and didn't do any MCQs at that point. Then I methodically went through all of the tax chapters and did every single tax MCQ in my book. Then I started reviewing, and at that point I started doing some WTB professional responsibilities and business law MCQs, along with WTB tax MCQs and all of the WTB sims. I also listened to Ninja Audio whenever I drove throughout the entire 7 weeks. It helped a ton.
