Hello, i´m from Germany and really interested in making the CPA and then working in the USA as an auditor.

    My question is now:

Is it possible in the USA to work as an auditor for example in the big 4 and simultaneously carry on a trade in other branch, just for example running a restaurant or a club?

The reason why i im asking that question is, in Germany you cant work as an Wirtschaftsprüfer (the German äquivalent to the CPA) and also have an own business in a different branch.

I would appreciate every answer and for every help !!!

    Thanks in advance

I'm sure its fine, but you'd end up very hands off at the other business

Actually I have to disagree with acamp. I'm Big 4 and it's in my employment contract that I'm not allowed to have a second job. Basically it's to ensure that I'm available when they need me to work extra hours.

Found my old DT offer in my email, no mention about not being able to work anywhere else, might have run it by compliance to make sure you don't create a conflict or something.

But this is about as relevant as asking which private jet you'd buy if you had the cash–because you'll have basically no chance of having enough time to put in a meaningful contribution at your own business.

depends on where you get a job. everyone i've worked had something in the employee handbook not allowing 2nd jobs for staff members and up

    FAR - 1/26/2012 - PASSED (78, but Lost credit), re-do 11/27/2013 - PASSED (87)!
    AUD - EPIC FAIL, 71, 69; 68; 5/25/2013 - PASSED (85)!
    REG - 10/1/2012 - 72; 7/1/2013 - 73 UGH, 10/1/2013 - PASSED (85)!
    BEC - 2/28/2013 - PASSED (82)!
    Licensed CPA!

Used Becker self-study materials (just this for FAR original & REG #1), WileyTestBank, NINJA notes/audio, and Roger cram course for AUD #5, REG #3 & FAR reboot. CPA!
