I am currently studying for my CPA, and I work in a corporate healthcare accounting environment. From what I know of the content material and what I have heard from others, the CMA is actually going to be more useful on a day to day basis for me. I feel as though the CPA will be more helpful in advancement, and as I understand it more difficult, and so I am tackling it first. Some of the other forums mention that the CMA is much easier after having completed the CPA, because there is a fair amount of overlap in both REG and BEC. My question is if it would be advantageous to go straight from doing my CPA into doing the CMA, that way I won’t have to re-learn the topics that overlap later. I probably shouldn’t be worrying about this for the time being until I have achieved my first goal of the CPA, but I am one of those people who likes to plan everything out way in advance. Thanks for you any insight you might have!

    BEC - 5/2013 - Passed!
    FAR - 8/2013 - Passed!
    REG - 11/2013 - Passed!

@jaredo155, like you, I also work in corporate healthcare accounting and am considering the CMA after I complete the CPA. I also feel the CMA would be more useful to me but would need the CPA for advancement. I think it would probably be advantageous to go straight into the CMA exam but then again, I feel like I need a break before tackling something else.
