I just got my last passing grade, can I say that I am a CPA on my resume without getting my congraduatory letter or my license yet?
chal - I would say not. The exam is just one step in the CPA process. Most if not all states require some sort of experience requirement before you can be called a "CPA". You would be better suited to say something like:
Passed all sections of Certified Public Examination, License pending" or
Passed all sections of Certified Public Examination, Experience required for Licensure"
Congrats on passing all parts it is an achievement to be proud of.
Thanks for the reply, but I do have all the requirements completed, I just don't feel like waiting 3 months for my license
chal - Why 3 month wait? Does it just take your state that long? It seems my first comment would be more appropriate on a resume then if you just submitted your application. Also, at this time it is not a matter of if you will be a CPA only when you can tack those 3 letters after your name.
They told me a need to wait until a get a congraduatory letter which will be mailed out by may 15, then I can proceed to the next steps. I am in PA is there something I can do to make the process quicker?
Chal - Go to this link and download the application.
I did not read everything but on the first pages it says the following: List the date you passed the Uniform CPA Examination and the state in which you passed and include a copy of Uniform CPA Examination notice (NOTE: Congratulatory letter is not acceptable).
Not sure what the person is referring about when they told you that you needed the congratulatory letter. It does say that you need a copy of Uniform CPA Examination notice which I would say refers to the passing letter that shows credit for all exams. I think you need to submit your application with your letter showing credit for all four exams and you will be good. Just my thought.
Good Luck!
