So, to make a long story short. I will not be working until late Aug because I have one class to legally graduate. I’ll be taking the class during the summer, and I have enrolled in a “CPA Bootcamp” using Wiley CPA Excel. The plan of attack is listed below.

    June 1 – June 16 Study FAR

    June 17 – June 27 Study AUD

    June 28 – July 9 Review & Sit FAR & AUD

    July 11 – July 18 Study BEC

    July 19 – July 26 Review & Sit BEC

    July 27 – Aug 5 Study REG

    Aug 6 – Aug 12 Review & Sit REG

All those willing, please share any study tips that would help. I thought about purchasing Becker final review and/or Ninja, thoughts? Also, I’d appreciate if anyone who is or has been in similar situation could share their study plan. Thanks for reading.

OP – Is there a reason you need to be done by August? I say go for it. For it to be successful you better have a lot mental horsepower and a high tolerance for sleep deprivation.

Go for it. Take it like a full time job. From June 1 to Aug 12 and take every sunday off, there are 61 days, put 8 hours every day, minus 4 days for sitting the exam, you have 57*8hr = 456 hours. That's an average of 114 hours per section. If you are fresh out of college, I say it is doable theoretically. The hard question is whether you can stick to your study plan.

@Chrislo – The class is 500 dollars. It's a sponsored class, and no offense was taken. I am used to people telling me what I can't or shouldn't do such as a HS teacher telling me I couldn't go to and graduate from a top 20 school or I shouldn't go to school and work full time. I consider myself well above average though. I guess I was offended lol.

@Matt Douglas-There are many reasons. but the biggest I am not working until Aug and I do not want to waste my summer. I would rather not be working and studying for CPA later in life

Thanks all for support. Studying for the CPA exam is very relative. I think people tend to look at things from only their perspective. A few things to note is that I will not be working so this will be my full time job, the material is still fresh on my mind. Is it really hard to show up for work and actually do your job?

    neaux2135,

It might be doable if you have seen all the topics in FAR, and instead of learning you will just be reviewing for a few weeks. If you have taken tax and law in college, it might not be so bad. My courses covered about 70% of REG.

Whatever you choose to do, good luck and keep us updated. Maybe you can start your own thread as a daily diary 🙂 for the rest of us, to see if it can be done….Oh but then again, you will be using every spare moment, so maybe a weekly update.

I'm kind of in a similar situation as you – I start my job full time in August, but I wanted to get the CPA exam done so I could enjoy my last summer break. I attempted taking all 4 parts in this past testing window (Q2), and it's beyond brutal.

I started studying in March for FAR and gave myself about 3 weeks to study plus about 5 days for review, and it was just not enough time (as you can see from my score, ouch). Unless you are insanely smart, I would recommend setting aside one testing window for FAR, it's just too much material.

I think if you're not working full time, are willing to sacrifice a huge amount of your social life, and study close to 10-12 hours a day, you could knock out AUD, BEC, and REG before you start working. AUD and BEC are doable with about 10 days of studying, and REG can be done with about 20 days (I'm studying for REG for 30 days though because tax is my nemesis). But FAR just takes way too much time to study, in my opinion.

I'm also a CPAexcel user! I used CPAexcel solely for AUD, BEC, and FAR. I bought the Ninja MCQ for REG, and it's a good supplement to CPAexcel. When I retake FAR, I'm planning on getting the Ninja MCQ for that as well.

FAR - 58, retake in July
    BEC - 76

I think its doable if you really stick to the schedule. However, I have multiple friends who passed BEC on a week of studying. Depending on how well that material sticks for you, you may be able to study it for just 7-10 days and pass. Then you can cut out a couple of those review days and apply it to REG because REG will be more challenging (at least generally speaking for most people)

It's not as farfetched as some people are saying. I know a few people that passed all their exams by their September start date with GT and PWC. The key to them passing was they started studying right after graduation (mid-May). My only suggestion to your plan is to extend your testing out to the end of August. There's a far better chance if you have an extra 2 weeks to study. If you start work then, you aren't going to be that busy anyway unless you have to go away for training. Best case scenario, you have all 4 sections passed. Hopefully you can knock out at least 2.

Passing all four on this schedule is certainly possible, but it isn't probable. It's more likely you well pass zero exams on this schedule than all four. And at that point you've wasted three months of studying.

Unless you are one of those rare bright lights who can absorb a lot in one sitting, I would not recommend this pace. FAR is almost like two tests and you have got AUD on top of it? That's going to be tough. At least move FAR out to the fall by itself.

    @neaux2135

I used final review for REG and AUD. I have it for FAR, but won’t start it until next week. I am a bit spooked to not have it, as I have had success with the final review thus far. It was good for REG, great for AUD. I had an ahhh ha moment with the final review for AUD. It was as if it glued all of the concepts together and I finally understood the big picture.

I am also using NINJA MCQs for FAR and trying to review 1/10 chapters a day right now for FAR, but I am still a fan of having final review “spoon fed” to me. neaux2135, if you are fresh out of school and can remember what you learned, you may be able to get away with focusing on the final review.

I can't see this schedule working, but if you pass all 4 parts on your first try then great.

The smartest Accountant I know graduated Summa Cum Laude , and became Director of a fortune company at 25. He spent 4 months studying to pass all 4 parts. The OP will do it in less than two months. If this individual is a bright as he claims to be, why did he go for Accounting?

There have been at least a couple people on here who have passed all 4 in 1 window, so you wouldn't be the first person on here to do so. However, it is rare. Personally I took FAR and AUD in the same window and was going to tack on REG at the end of the window, but decided to take vacation instead; I was working 32-38 hours a week throughout this. So, had I been not working, I'm sure I could have done all 4 in 1 window. Wouldn't have been fun, but could have been done.

Not that everyone can do it, not that it's adviseable for most people, but it can be done, and if you want to put in the hours to do it, then go for it!

A classmate of mine took two exams on one weekend and two more on the very next weekend while finishing his last semester of school.
He passed all four and joined the 300 club, but he was/is a rather unique person with *zero* social life.
