I just enjoyed myself for awhile after I passed my last section. Then I took the Ethics exam. And now that I'm waiting to be licensed I am going to start studying for the CMA exam. I actually miss studying, crazy huh?

I'm in the same boat as you guys. When I was studying for the exams, I felt I had a purpose in life. Now that its over, I'm confused as to what to do now. It is really bittersweet to know that I wont have to study again. Studying has taught me to be better at time management, as well as to get my priorities straight. I would try to pass the CMA exam, however, I am still starting out in accounting. I need to relive my college days and go have some fun.

    Jealous. Jealous. Jealous.

Though I can't say I haven't enjoyed myself. I have definitely taken my breaks away from studying, which have come back to bite me in the ass. Now, I can't stop thinking about how I'd be done if I would have just let myself be miserable.

I however, hear the same thing about the PTSD – that you go home and feel a sort of emptiness because there's no heavy weight over your shoulder.

As much as I hate going home from my job in public and studying the same s*** all night, I think I will miss it too…maybe…a little…after about two years haha

There is a little emptiness because you have more time. Somehow, though you get busy with other things, and if you do have he extra time try to fill it with good things 🙂 One of my coworkers started volunteering during her spare time. I still have recurring nightmares that I failed an exam and I have to restudy. I honestly don't know why I have these dreams because I passed all my exams on the first try but I definitely feels good to come home from work each day and not to have to think about studying.

Oh I am glad I am not the only one with this odd feeling. Why on earth do I miss studying!?! I miss it so much I am moving up the start of my CIA exam studying and considering a second masters degree…for fun. Seriously what is wrong with me!?!

I am spending more time outside and more time with my dogs and it is fantastic but it is weird not having those CPA books stare at me all the time!

Missing studying?????? You guys are in serious need of some psychiatric intervention and medical attention!! Just kidding. Good luck with your future exams. (ekkkkkkk)

I for one am totally enjoying my FREE time. Yard work, cleaning my house, been to a George Strait concert, hanging out with my friends and a new relationship are just a few things that I would choose any day over those two and a half years of hell. No freaking way I will tie myself down studying again like I did for the CPA. It's over.

    Good luck evneryone!

I have read TONS of books that have nothing to do with accounting and have been planning on studying for the CMA exam. I have actually had the materials since April but just can't force myself to start. I had originally planned on taking both exams in the May/June window and then I decided to do part 1 in June and Part 2 in Sept, but now it looks like I am going to postpone both to the Sept/Oct window. Think I want to enjoy the summer a bit more, lol. Plus I am a director for our local girl scout council summer camp and we have camp next month so I am busy with planning and registration for that.

i am not sure i am reading these post correctly………miss studying???? lol

i am with 100% @candothis………i put my time in and never want to study again. there are a million things i would rather be doing that sitting at a desk studying this material. hanging out with friends that i neglected while studying, going to the pool, working out, running, taking trips, hobbies i have put aside, even focusing more on my professional career. when i was studying i always had that on my mind and felt guilty about everything else i did. all i could imagine was the day i was done and finally i am there and never want to look back.

but hey, we all have different views on life. i wish each of you the best of luck in your current studying and future studying if thats the route you decide to take

@Beavis, If I didn't work in industry I would say phffttt to the CMA but I think it would be very beneficial to me in the long run. Otherwise, I would not ever study anything ever again!!

I wouldn't say that I “miss” studying, but there definitely is this odd feeling I get when I realize I can do anything I want on the weekends/evenings and I no longer have that constant stress of the exams hanging over my head. I'm considering going for my MSA, as I have 152 college credits but only a Bachelor's degree. We'll see though.

My next goal for 2013 is to run a half marathon in the fall. Training for that will be a great replacement for studying 🙂
