I just took FAR and passed, I’m working into BEC using Roger and I feel like this is way easier. Am i underestimating this exam?

In my oh-so-humble opinion, anything is “easy” after FAR.

Seriously though, I found BEC to be a walk in the park after taking FAR twice. There are a lot of topics, but most of it seems like a pretty general overview of the material. With that said, don't underestimate it – especially when it comes to calculations. For some reason I always think that if I understand the rules I can always work out the calculations later. I'm usually wrong….

I am going to take BEC tomorrow.I have been told that BEC is the easiest. Because of that I didn't study hard now I run out of time. 4 exams of CPA, none of them is easy, they all required significant time and energy.Study hard no matter which one you are going to take.

    Reg- 08/30/2013 86
    Far- 11/30/2013 80
    Aud- 08/30/2014 71 Retake Oct.30 85
    Bec- 11/26/2014

BEC is easy for 3 reasons:

    1) NASBA makes it easy. NASBA sets the ~60% pass rate. If NASBA wanted it to be hard they would make the pass rates lower.

    2) Most questions on BEC have definite answers. Since it is mostly quantitative based (unlike AUD which is qualitative) you can usually come up with an answer without considering the 4 choices There is a lot less of the “which of the following is correct or incorrect” type questions.

    3) No sims. I guess this does not apply to ESL Students.

I am using Roger too for all four sections… I passed FAR with an 84, took BEC 3 weeks later and scored a 71. I listened to the lie of “if you pass FAR, you can pass any of them.” I know now where I went wrong.

Studying for BEC is much easier, because it's about 1/4 of the information. But I found it to be the sections I wasn't fond of: cost accounting, economics, corporate governance. Those areas don't come as naturally to me as journal entries and t accounts so I should have spent a lot more time reading the material (memorizing) and practicing questions than I did.

Just put in the same attention as you did for FAR, and you'll be fine.

I underestimated BEC, and got a 73 first time. I learned not to underestimate a single piece of information for any exam.

I plan on studying just as hard and learning the information thoroughly, it just seems much easier for some reason. I went through 20 percent of the review in 2 days….it doesn't seem comparable

BEC is to me not easy but very doable. I took it first and suggest that for everyone. The writing part is a bit of a mystery, but it is worth relatively little (15 of 100 points). It to me is the most similar to a standard test – just with bits and pieces of 4 or 5 college courses (economics, cost, IT, internal controls, and other stuff).

You get a quality study guide (for me Becker) you go through ALL the material, you pass – maybe not with flying colors but a pass is a pass.

For FAR and REG, though thankfully I did pass, I can imagine studying and still not passing.

AUD is to me the most difficult to study for, I have had trouble getting thru the material. Hopefully my 3rd lackluster attempt will do.

BEC is hard for those that don't study the breadth of topics. I imagine those that study all topics well literally are in the 80's-90's range of passing – for a program like Becker that says they have a pass rate of all in the 80's – I imagine BEC is in the 90's.

BEC will throw you for a loop if you are not careful. The exam itself is like having multiple personalities. You don't know which one will show up. Many candidates have taken the exam where they have walked out and was like “WTF” was that even when they studied.

    AUD - 90
    BEC - 78
    FAR - 84
    REG - 87
    World Domination Plan

Phase I : Pass CPA Exams - Complete
Phase II : Megan Fox - In Progress
Phase III : Megan Fox & Scarlett Johansson Lingerie Pillow Fight
Phase IV : Form the new Charlie's Angels with Megan Fox, Scarlett Johansson, & Gal Gadot
    Phase V : TBD

    BEC : 78
    REG : 87
    FAR : 84
    AUD : 90

    World Domination Plan

Phase I : Pass CPA Exams - Complete
Phase II : Megan Fox - Initiated
Phase III : Bring back 8-Tracks
Phase IV : Megan Fox & Scarlett Johansson Lingerie Pillow Fight
    Phase V : TBA
