    Hello everyone,

I have BS in Accounting and working part time. I am going to a community college for Fall semester to get extra credits for CPA exam requirements. It will be done in December, so I am planning to take my first attempt of FAR and possibly REG in Jan or Feb, 2016.

My question is, would it be wise to start studying now since I have more time now than once the school starts? Due to my budget, I am thinking about buying this book “Wiley CPAexcel exam review 2015 study guide” through amazon and Ninza MCQ and notes. Would it be enough or any other suggestions?

    Thank you!

You know the old saying “it's never too early to do X”? The CPA exam is not one of those things.

If you're not going to sit for a year, it might actually be detrimental to start studying now. The way I explain it is that studying and taking the exam is a balancing act. If you take the exam too soon, you're not fully prepared and you are likely to fail. If you take too long to study before taking the exam, you start to memorize answers from the material and you forget the little details. It's important to find that sweet spot where you're prepared and feel confident. Then you go in and knock the exam out. So, in my opinion, you've got time.

One other thing. Pairing FAR and REG to take in the same test window is not advisable. While REG doesn't have quite the volume of material that FAR does, it still has quite a bit. If you want to take two exams in one window, I'd gor FAR and AUD. And then go REG and BEC.

    Good luck

@Angelwatch thank you for your advice! Then, I will dig in to FAR and AUD when the time comes…

Do you think those two materials are okay plan?

    Anyone has other opinions?

    Thank you.

I'd focus on one at a time.
