Any Tips on BEC written communication?

    Hi all,

    Just got back my BEC test score analysis. I did above average on MCQ but Below Average on written communication.

    I got a 74.

    Any tips on studying for the essay section?

    CPA-
    FAR -- PASSED!!
    REG -- PASSED!!
    BEC -- PASSED!!
    AUD -- PASSED!!

    Written comminucation was one of the only, if not the only part that I was Stronger on the first time I took BEC. The topic I got was related to FAR which I had not studied yet, and it was a topic in school that I never fully grasped. I pretty much just made up the content (and looking back I had no idea what I was talking about) but I focused more on the layout and style of the memo. Make sure you study what it should look like and follow that format exactly. Make sure all of your puncuation in right, and read through it a couple times to makes sure the words make sense together and flow smoothly. It is much more about how professional your writing style is, and how good your format looks than the actual content.

    Focus on what your study materials tells you to do. For Becker they stressed the important of using Key words. The accuracy of your response takes a back seat to the format of your response. Its graded by a computer.

    AUD - 83
    REG - 78
    FAR - 69,73,79
    BEC - 85

    Take the “you” view. Tailor your message to the intended audience.

    The AICPA is clear that you are not graded on the message content. I had no idea about the content of any of my essays, but am certain I did well on them.

    Don't reinvent the wheel. I used the same intro sentence and conclusion paragraph on all three essays. Other than that I focused on provided a simple but complete anwser to the question. My score report had stronger for WC so it must have been right.
