Anybody here use Yaeger for FAR?

So after 5 weeks I just finished the videos. I was doing the assigned homework videos after each video until I found Jeff’s method then I went straight to watching the videos with intense notes. I felt as though after all those videos I didn’t learn much. I also just wrote Jeff’s notes and started to do mcqs and feel like I’m learning more with the mcqs and Jeff’s notes than anything yaeger went over. The lectures were so boring and long. At the end of each video they would go over IFRS and by that time I was done. Anybody else have this problem? Just curious what everyone thinks about this program? I’ve only used them for FAR which is what I’m studying for now. 48 hours of videos I think is a waste of time.

I just started FAR but used Yaeger for AUD and found it helpful. I'm having a hard time following Cindy and Phil (maybe it gets better??) but Gary does a good job with the AUD videos. I use them more to keep me going through the book and highlighting key points; everything comes together for me when I start hitting the Test Bank. I think the material for FAR is just boring itself (to me anyway!) so maybe that's where your problem is. 🙂 Good luck!

I'm also using Yaeger and have only done FAR as of yet. The first time around, I just watched the lectures and didn't take many notes. Then after each module I would do the assigned MCQs and SIMS and then do MCQs in the Wiley Test Bank until I was making good scores. I had the same problem with the lectures. I found them boring and hard to get through while staying focused the whole time. And then by the time it came for my final review, I had forgotten everything I learned in the beginning. Needless to say I failed the first time. The second time around, I used the CRAM. I highly recommend this if you find the original lectures slow and hard to get through. It's basically the same information without them going through all of the MCQs in the lecture. I also used Jeff's method this time and took intense notes, which kept me awake through the lectures. And I didn't even go to the Wiley Test Bank until two weeks before my exam. Best thing is I remembered everything because of my notes (which I reviewed often). I didn't have time to re-write the notes, as Jeff suggests. I took FAR for the second time on 8/30/13 so I'm still awaiting my score, but I felt MUCH more prepared with the second study method as opposed to the first.

I used Yaeger for all 4 sections and the note taking helped me a ton. Stick with it. The Yaeger team knows their stuff and will not steer you wrong. With my learning style, Phil was the most difficult for me to follow. But, REG was the only exam I passed on my first try 🙂 The others, I failed although it was because I was studying wrong. Not Yaegers fault.

For my retakes, I used a tweaked version of Jeff's NINJA method, and REwriting notes is sooooo helpful, it can't be emphasized enough. I went 4/4 after switching up my study routine.

I've sat for FAR BEC and AUD using Yaeger. Much of the videos repeat what's in the Wiley book so I've found the videos to be helpful to a certain point. I felt like Yaeger was more helpful for AUD in that it helped make sense of the book. The book is a little hard to follow at first. It may be different for others though.

I think the Yaeger handouts are pretty handy.

I started following Jeff's method more closely too and I've found it helps compress everything down time-wise.

Does someone mind explaining “Jeff's Method” for me? I've gotten bits and pieces following the forum in the last couple of months but not the whole thing. I'm going to cram FAR into the next 8 weeks and could use all the help I can get. Thanks!!

Jeff (or anyone else), on the study plan where you say to pound the MCQs, do you mean MCQs only on what we've studied so far, or the entire content of the exam?

As for Yaeger, I'm using it for FAR as I have a learning style where it helps to see things explained in action. I take notes as the video goes along. When it comes to the MCQs in the videos, I pause the video and try the MCQ before Yaeger does the question. To each their own though, Yaeger definitely isn't for everyone.
