Anyone get burnt out from studying?

Any tips to avoid getting burnt out? I had no problem with my previous sections because I would only study a couple hours a day. There is a lot of material in FAR and my brain is overloaded. Can’t really afford to take the “leisurely pace” I did with the other sections.

Are you leaving time in the week for breaks? I found out pretty quickly that I preferred to study 5 hours a day with a break on Sunday as opposed to 4 hours a day, day after day after day.

Sometimes you just have to step back from the material for a little bit.

There's no way to avoid being burned out.

The best thing is to build in some sanity time between tests. I have a personal policy that I won't study during the months the test is unavailable.

I was burnt out by my final test, BEC. Just slugged through it and forced myself to study. Fortunately BEC is supposedly the easier test so I guess I got away with doing it not as hard as other exams. I am still feeling burnt out but forcing myself through the MBA (which I was doing concurrently with CPA+full time work).

study in 2-4 hour increments, take a break, do it again (if you're not working full time). also take some days off, i take off on sundays and some nights off to spend with family and friends doing things you like. if not, you'll like die of stress. ha

Burnt out doesn't even begin to describe how I feel studying for FAR at the moment.

Definitely foresee pushing test date back.

for those of you studying far, i highly recommend doing progress tests after each chapter to keep the information fresh in your head. I didn't do that and ended up stressing MAJOR and also ahving to do the HW about 3-4+ times because I forgot by not doing progress tests along the way.

After eight straight weeks for FAR and BEC… I am spent. I took one week off after BEC for Labor Day activities and since then I have been a slog. So far behind on the REG studying I don't think Oct. 1st is going to be the test date any longer.

Any advice on Becker REG sections to keep the energy up. R-1 through R-4 is killing me. Not difficult but just… yuck!

Here's the deal. I offer REG advice and you, FAR.

Do not stress over the law chapters, instead, work on mastering BASIS, BASIS and MORE BASIS.

Don't bother memorizing details of credits either. And take your points where you can with filing status questions and ethics questions. Those are too easy to miss.

Nick, thanks for the info! I decided to start with the Business Law because it basically makes me want to poke my eyes out, but that also means I've had a difficult time getting motivated with my studying. I guess I'll try not to get too obsessive over that stuff so I can move forward to the tax chapters. Thanks again!

Tax is 65-75% of the test and all of the Simulations

@Nick… Thanks for the insight… I generally thought that would be the case but it is really good to know where I will be spending the rest of my nights. Are you using Becker and if so, is it enough or would you do something to supplement (i.e.sims)?

Good Lord… FAR seemed so long ago. Honestly, it was all over the place and covered almost everything Becker covered. I did not walk out of the exam thinking something was on there that blind-sided me or that I had not seen before. Plus, there was not of a focus one any one specific area. I think that is why FAR is difficult for most.

I spent a lot of my study time on acquisition method, installment sales, leases, present value & annuities, bonds, inventories and deferred taxes. So most of my time was on R1-R6 and came out OK. However, don't blow off government & NP in R7-R9 as it was in there just not a ton.

I know that doesn't help much but get the calcs down so you don't waste time.

Biggest regret was not knocking FAR out first.
