Anyone have any coal for my esteem engine?

I really need some encouragement from the group. Been studying FAR for 4 months and my exam in 10/07 at 12:30pm. I have been using Yeager with the WTB to prepare. Also purchased 10pt Combo lite and have already completely copied them and listen to the audio and do flash cards daily. With all that being said, my grades on practice tests are HORRIBLE. The best grade Ive gotten since doing non stop MCQs on Sunday is 70.

I am really struggling with finding the motivation to complete my review this week. A failing grade and retake seems inevitable.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to use my remaining time? Or should I just go to happy hour and begin mentally preparing for the retake?

My suggestion is this. Go to you WTB and look at your progress report. There is an option where you can see like a chart and it tells you by topic which ones you are doing good in and which you are not.

The ones you are not good at – I suggest going back and re-reading the chapter material and doing nugget notes.

It is okay to be doing poorly in the Test Bank as long as you learn why you are making the mistakes and put in the effort to understand it and get it right the next time.

FAR is overwhelming with tons of topics and loads of details. What about rescheduling your test to the following week? Usually, an average score around 80% on practice tests is a good place to be. Notecards were my best friend during FAR. Good luck!

Cant reschedule the exam as my NTS expires 10/8/13. I have struggled with this material since the begining. Its really to much but I am preaching to the choir. I guess all I can do is try…

Wanna_B_TXCPA2014 – Ouch. Look at it this way: by taking the test, you will get to see the questions and you may pass. Some times, the practice tests are harder than the actual thing. Keep drilling through your questions and reviewing what you miss. Five days is a long time. You can do it!

    Remember this:

Learning is not only helping you pass the CPA but improving your brain muscles, preventing alzteimers, and turning you into a super-genius. With this you can be rest assured that even if you have to take these exams twice, you are benefiting in other ways.

You may pass this time. You have a strong likelihood of passing. Not to worry though if you don't because you will carry forward the knowledge you learned and pass for certain the next time.

    You can do this Wannaa_B.

Trust the system, and put the effort in. You can totally pass, and it will be well worth it.

Try working through some SIMS in WTB and really understand every journal entry involved.

Focus on rewriting some of your notes on the topics most unfamiliar/difficult for you.

And practice going through all of your mnemonics. This will all be good review.

Keep working MCQ after MCQ and read all of the answers from WTB as you go. Write down anything you get wrong.

Don't stop reading your notes on until 10/6 šŸ™‚ Just take some with you everywhere you go and read them over and over.

    Good luck!!!!

Wanna_B – you have an excellent chance of passing. Don't worry about your practice scores. I used Becker and generally got failing practice scores but passed. As a rule I think the review course tests are intentionally harder than the real test.

Just keep working the questions. Make your own notes. In subjects with a formula (like pensions) write down the formula in your own words, over and over until you're getting it right or at least close. I don't think I ever got it 100% right but I was close.

Go into the exam and do your best. Make quick decisions about questions you need to guess on. Try not to stress (I know, easier said than done) and use what you know. You probably know more than you think.

If you feel like crap after the test – it's normal! 99% of us do and many of us pass anyway. Good luck to you!
