Immediately after obtaining my license to practice in Missouri, can you maintain your license if you move and obtain residency in another state? Reading the MSBA regulations, to initially obtain a license you must be a resident. If you’re NOT a resident and want a Missouri license you must have been a CPA in another state for 4 years. However, I can’t find anything about getting my Missouri license then immediately becoming an out-of-date resident. Anyone know anything about this?

This is probably something that varies state-to-state, so the Missouri board may be the only ones who can tell you for sure…but I would assume that you maintain the license even if you move. However, the state that you move to may require that you transfer in your license in order to practice as a CPA in their state, and might not grandfather you in if you've only been licensed for a couple months (for example, if the new state had stricter education requirements, you might be required to meet those to be licensed in the new state unless you'd been a CPA for 5 years already or something like that).

You need to talk to the state you are transferring to not the state you are in. If you are moving from MO to LA then it would be up to the LA Board to grant you permission to practice.
