I was recently licensed and I wanted to see has anyone does this before? Just making sure it’s doable, so many of my past colleagues went to paid events and I wasn’t sure why. I’m assuming because our job reimbursed but i don’t want to bother paying only to wait a week+ to get reimbursed.

I searched online and there appears to be a lot of free CPE courses, but i feel this is too good to be true lol

As to your original question, I haven't tried any of the free ones, but definitely plan on doing so.

Regarding live classes though, they can be great networking opportunities. Discussions with the instructors can prove to be quite valuable as well. Can be expensive, but worth it in my opinion if the material is relevant to your employment.

I've found the free ones to always be one, maybe 2 units at best. Thats a lot of time spent to save a few bucks.

I use cpe discount store (prob not the BEST source but it counts all the same) for $139 total. I've yet to come across a free ethics CPE so I doubt you can do it ALL for free. Added to my 2 year license which is another 161, it costs me about $12/mo to be a CPA.
