    Hello Everyone,

I am taking FAR on October 4th and have been using Gleim for about 2 months now. I am almost done wiht all of the chapters but am doing quite poorly on the practice quizzes, but I still have not taken any full length practice exams. I would really appreciate it if you guys can give me some insight on how the exam was for you after using gleim and any advice on how to prepare right before the exam. Thanks!

I used Gleim for FAR. I used the study planner and strictly followed the review format. As I go along I made my notes and went back through them to refresh my memory before I took the exam rehearsal which is a week before my scheduled exam. The exam rehearsal helped me identify my weak areas, then I focused on them during my final week review. Then I took another comprehensive test the day before the actual exam. If you normally don't, I would recommend studying at least 4 hours during the final week so your brain will get acclimated to the duration of the test and won't be burned out on the actual exam. My average performance score was 77 but I managed to pass the exam with 90+. Good luck on your test!

    Hi there,

I have studied with Gleim or AUD and BEC and felt very prepared for the tests. I've just started to study for FAR.

I think you might want to try and speed up your pace. While working full time, it took me about 3 weeks to get through all the book chapters (including questions in the book) plus the Gleim online. It takes A LOT of practice before you start doing really well on the practice quizzes. Therefore, I think the best study method is to push hard and get through the books in a few weeks, then to spend at least 2-3 weeks just pounding out questions and working on your weak area.

Gleim is great, but I'd start putting in more hours per week if possible.

    Good luck!

    AUD- 93
    BEC- 81
    FAR- 1/26/2015

@CPAby2015 How were your unit quiz scores? I am doing awful at them, 55's on average, but I start to understand them better after I finish quiz1,2 and TBS. My plan is to take an exam rehearsal every day for a 7 days the week before the exam. After every exam, I plan on studying an extra 5-7 hours on my weak areas. How does that sound?

My MCQ1 ranges fro 45 to 85, the MCQ2 from 50-95 it depends if I'm familiar with the topic since my work is related to financial accounting. Then I do 30 MCQs in study session and then another 30 in practice exam. I also took notes while doing MCQs because there were pointers that you can get from the answer explanations that was not covered in the study materials. You can only take the complete exam rehearsal once but you can contact you personal counselor to reset it if you want to. You should be doing MCQs on the final week and go back only to your notes in case you are still missing the point. The Performance Graphs is another useful tool in identifying your weak areas. Utilize it and your goal is to have average of at least 75 on each study units. If you've done SIMs in each SUs, you don't have to do more on the final week. Doing SIMs will help you how to answer, knowing the topic will help what to answer. Also, if you have formulas, I suggest you go over them once again the day before the test, just in case.

@CPAby2015 On your final week, how did you do the practice exams? You took 30 question exams for every unit until you did over 75? Or did you mix up the units?

On the final week, I did practice exams on my weak areas until I get at least 75%. Then I mixed up the units the day before the exam, I think I setup 90 MCQs to mirror the actual exam duration. Make sure also that any questions you missed during your final week that you read the answer explanation and figure out where did you go wrong, then take note of that.

@davidkats2443: Good luck on your upcoming exam. I know how you feel when the exam date come nearer. Honestly, I do not think giving advice about my studying method will help you at this point since you are so close to the exam.

I would focus on going through all the chapters. Gleim have 20 units for FAR. If you can simply go through them from now still the exam date, you will do better. You can choose to go through the materials by reviewing the MCQs, or go through the material page by page. Try to understand the main theme for each unit.

Depend on how much time you can devote for studying, you should do accordingly. Time management at this point is as important as studying method. You don't want to focus on too much on one topic but miss the rest. Consider your strong topics, quickly go over it to make sure you can memorize them to the exam date. Spend the rest of the time on topics you still have problems.

Good luck. You will do fine.

    BEC 91 (01/06/13)
    REG 91 (01/24/13)
    FAR 86 (02/10/13)
    AUD 93

    Feel so close 😀
