Applied for a new position

    So last week I applied for a new position as a treasury analyst. I was wondering if anyone out there would have input as to what kinds of questions I can expect during the interview? I’m not worried about the personality/ behavioral questions but more so curious about the kinds of technical questions I may encounter. Any guidance would be much appreciated – thanks

    You may want to ask what sort of bank accounts they have. Also, how are the accounts structured. For instance, do they use ZBA accounts, lockbox accounts, banking relationship with parent, if any, etc. Ask what sort of challenges exist to forecast collections and disbursements, when does AP cut checks, when is payroll funded (how many days before), etc. You may also want to find out who they use for credit cards. Chances are you would be responsible for managing that. Hope that helps.

    BEC - 5/26/2013 75
    REG - 8/31/2013 82
    AUD - 11/24/2013 74, 2/9/2014 92
    FAR - 5/25/2014 85

    At some point during every interview I've been on, in over 20 years in the workforce, I was asked “What is your greatest weakness?” Telling them “I have a high intolerance for idiots that ask stupid questions” will NOT help you get the job. I can say this from experience. Oh well, I didn't want that crappy job anyway.

    @jrosen: thanks for responding you have some great insight. I bought a book “Treasury Management – the practitioners guide” to study up on the treasury lingo and what not (not sure if i'll get through the entire thing before the interview while studying though). So hopefully that will help out in learning the basics. I've always had an interest in finance and investing so I feel like this would be a great fit if I can get into it.

    @Kicket, haha that's awesome

    Have one of the interviews today at 2:30 – I always get so nervous before these things. Any tips on keeping your cool before and during the interview?

    1. If I already had a job and was working when I went on an interview with a company: I ALWAYS did better in those interviews than those I went on while unemployed. I felt more confident, and just had an attitude of “If this doesn't work out, I'm still employed. THEY'LL have to convince ME to leave my current job.” And it let me be myself. On the interviews where I was unemployed, I tried to convince myself (reverse psychology) that I already was employed and and tried to trigger the same mindset as my interviews while employed.

    2. Be yourself.

    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.
