What are your thoughts?. I am half way done and hopefully 3/4 when I find out my audit score next week. I have been at my job for 4.5 years…3 years staff, the last year and half Senior Financial accountant. I plan on moving to North Carolina (Raleigh-Durham) as soon as I find a job. Should I wait until I finish the CPA, hopefully May or is it OK to start applying now? I do the accounting for our mortgage back securities (our bond portfolio) in a govt agency.

What is your experience on applying for jobs out of state?

What are your thought on applying before completing the CPA exam?

    Salary advice?

I would start applying now. Worst-case scenario, you take your last exam in NC as a candidate of your current state – not the end of the world. Usually applying for jobs from out-of-state takes longer to find one, so I'd start early. Growing up, my dad found jobs out-of-state and our family moved several times, but it was always a slower process than finding a job locally.

I applied and got a job out of state before I finished my exams. The one draw back for me has been the lack of time I had after my initial move. I'm settled now, but it was challenging to move, start a new job, and find time/motivation for the exam.

    Passed all sections.
