As lusi89 stated, the proctor takes you to your seat. You don't choose. I've had this same experience at three different testing centers.

If there isn't anyone in testing already or if I can see an empty corner seat, I always ask. If they haven't gone too far into the check in process they can put you on a specific computer. But if there are already people in testing they probably will just assign you the next available seat.

Its kinda weird… I've been assigned the same seat every time I've gone into test, whether or not anyone else was there.
