At what point should I consider rescheduling FAR

I am week into my final review for FAR. Right now I am 19 days away from the exam(I have been studying for about 2 months). I have watched every Becker lecture, Completed every homework, and took plenty of notes. I am averaging around 55% on the progress tests. I feel weak in every single area and nothing seems to click. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I think 19 days can be enough time to make it click. Have you rewritten your notes in a more organized fashion? Made flashcards?

Here is something to try– I have not done this yet, but it's something I've been percolating on for FAR. Think of a broad treatment type, such as using discounted cash flows vs. undiscounted cash flows, and make two columns, one column for each option. Go through your materials and put concepts in the appropriate column. That may help tie things together.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

I think 19 days is a great amount of time to shore up your weak areas. I would recommend that you don't do practice tests in favor of chunks of multiple choice questions. Those tests can be misleading and defeating.

I would select several areas you really struggle with, review and rewrite your notes- and eat, sleep, and breathe MCQ's during your last almost 3 weeks. I find it really helpful to do MCQ's open note- that way you can add to your notes if needed – or review the text for additional understanding.

    Keep at it!

Only you can answer that. Personally, I just rescheduled FAR for a week later than my original date. Yes it's unfortunate having to pay the ~$35 to change the date, but I considered it a worthwhile investment instead of having to pay hundreds to possibly take it again. If it gives you peace of mind then don't feel bad about doing it.

If you've done the full review course and some kind of cram/review course, you're probably going to be FINE. I was freaking out, sure I'd fail. FAR is overwhelming and I'd be shocked to meet someone that walked into that exam 100% confident. It's a weird beast. There is so much material that not every topic can be tested and what's crazy is I had a particular question asked 4 or 5 times. I was confused during the exam thinking “Even though I *think* I got it right, I keep getting that same effing question over and over so I must've missed it.” Pretty sure they were totally trying to Jedi mind trick me but IN THEIR FACES.

I walked out of the test feeling better. I didn't necessarily think I passed it (you just never know) but I knew I *could* pass it, know what I'm saying? The studying is SO.MUCH.WORSE than the test (with FAR at least. AUD – different story).

    FAR - 87 2/18/14
    AUD - 84 4/2/14
    REG - 87 7/23/14
    BEC - 78 8/26/14

I'm finally an *official* CPA - TX

I wouldn't worry about rescheduling yet. Try to reevaluate 6 days before the exam and the reschedule fee will still only be 35 dollars. Anything between that and 24 hours is about $66. Rescheduling is so easy that I don't understand people taking these exams when they are not ready.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

Part of the problem is that a lot of people might not think they're ready when they really are. Especially with FAR, since there's so much ground to cover. So at some point you have to decide that you're going to do it and just do it.

FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)

I agree with Kim. There are always going to be areas that are stronger than others but unless you get to that 6 day out mark and really feel like you grasp nothing, I don't think pushing it back is a good idea. I sort of felt that way about a week ago, then focused on little gaps in my knowledge and I'm running 70-80 on my weaker topics just like that. I think we get so caught up in the scores that we think the difference between a 60 and an 80 is miles of material when in reality it's probably just a couple of concepts you haven't nailed down. Focus on those concepts and re – assess in a week…
