Hey...this is my first time here so hi to everyone. I took my first exam in march (reg) and passed with an 80. Will start studying for audit soon and will def follow the same plan i used for reg. I first watched the becker lectures and made highlights in my text (i hate making notes). I then supplemented the becker materials by reading the wiley text. I like the wiley text because it is so detailed and really reinforced what i came across from becker. I then did the home work questions from becker twice. One week before the exam i went through the lectures again and did the supplemental questions and went through the simulations. Im hoping to take the exam by april month end and then take bec may month end but first i have to get the money to pay for them. (it was a real struggle to get to where i am now but thats a different story) Im aware of how difficult these exams can be so im determined to try my best and put in the necessary efforts to be successful. My struggles shall create my success.

offlineMemberKamaone, I have been working the Becker simulations for audit and they are almost identical to a multiple choice problems. You simply click on the best answer from a pop up window. If you are familiar with the technology in the simulation, i.e. search portions, split screen, and other little stuff, you will be fine. If you understand the concepts in the multiple choice problems, you will do fine on the simulations. The simulations in Audit are not as difficult as in FARE, that is my opinion. Good luck.

offlineMemberHope to pass CT- We can do this! When I posted I thought I have tried AUD 4 times, come to find out I have been at this so long I forgot one. So have taken it 5 times and this is going to be #6. I took my first AUD exam in 11/07 and have been trying ever since. The attemps are starting to blend together. However my scores have contiuned to go up so I am going to keep at it. We can certainly all stick together! I think support is good especially when it is something you only understand if you are doing it. My husband wanted me to quit last night, but he was better today. He is fed up with the entire situation. I am waiting for my payment coupon for AUD and I have to have REG done by 5/12. This should be an interesting next few months to say the least!

offlineMemberI took BEC and AUD using Gleim books only, since then I have started Yaeger Home Study and really like it. There are several things that are covered that were not with Gleim. Currently studying for BEC which I am taking 4/19. Then I will be re-studying AUD, which I plan to take the end of May.

offlineMemberHey all, found out yesterday that I failed aud for the second time (68,70)...hoping that third time's a charm. I am using spaexcel to study..anyone else using it? I plan on doing the mc questions over as many times as I can, I want to take this exam by the end of April and then take FAR end of May, hoping to be two down by the end of May. Wish me luck!!!

offlineMemberUsing Yaegar 2009 Homestudy and crams and Wiley 14 cd, some definitions and concepts are difficult to understand and follow, although Gary tries to explain it good, the material itself makes me not want to focus and study. After reading, some of the replies here, am beginning to think ,should I supplement Yaegar 2009 with Gleim maybe ??....not sure.

offlineMemberThe only beef I have with the Gleim software is that you can do only the simulations 3x. I need more help than that in the sims so I have been looking at other supplemental software the last few days.
I think the hardest thing is picking it back up the first time (I started again yesterday). Once I get into it I do okay, but it is hard to get back on the horse once you have fallen off. I have been working on the "forget the past and look forward to the future theory!" It is not easy though. :O)

offlineMemberAnushka730 - Sorry, I bought the software at the same time as the simulations from them. I believe they are sold seperate. I have used their software in the past. I will probably keep using for additional help but also looking for something new to jump start getting this over with. Their sim software is what only allows you to use it three times. I don't have a diagnostic yet from my 1/5 attempt, but in the past four before that I did horrible on the sims. So I am hoping some new software will help me improve my grade. Overall, I think their book it more detailed than Wiley's book. I like their software better than Wiley's software. I like Wiley's audio's better than Gleims. I hope this helps.

Do all sims of wiley 14. i actually got very similar ones in my exam.. WILEY s to be done once you are through your beckers or gliem or whichever base material you use... i worked for me:-)

Since January I took a FAR live class and did an at home Reg class so I had to clear out some of the cobwebs and refresh AUD. The practice test I took the other night was on Gleim and it looked as if I needed some work. How easy we forget when we are not using it. I left a message for Patty per your recommendation and I am going to get some new software. This Wiley book I am breezing through so I might pick up the book as well w/the intensive and see where I am at from there. I will probably try some practice in Wiley 14.0 later today and see how it goes. :O)

offlineMemberInitially, I thought that Audit was going to be easy. I took FARE in February, and got a 91. So I thought I could blow through Audit. The first three chapters of Aud are easy in Becker. Chapter 4 is a completely different story. I finally understand what people are talking about, it seems that there are always two correct questions. I am a little worried about this chapter. For people that took the test, where there a lot of questions regarding what assertions are being tested and the revenue cycle? Just wondering? I am going to study the crap out of this chapter!!!

offlineMemberCutoff for Wave one will most likely be around the 6-9th of May. If you take it before the 6th, you're almost guaranteed to be in Wave 1 (unless you get a new simulation). Anytime after the 6th could still put you in Wave 1, but no guarantees.

offlineMembertrumethod - I would be prepared for all of it. You just never know what areas are given more than others or what you will see in a sim. The content specification outline states for "obtain and document" 32%-38% of the exam, which is the highest area.

offlineMemberHas anyone heard of the Nuts and Bolts simulation? What is this?
If you guys had to pick, what chapters would you focus on the most? I am taking it this Friday and feel like I dont know enough. I have taken the Becker practice test at the end of each chapter a couple of times and do ok on it. I am going to take the Passmaster tests this week and watch some lecture DVDs to hopefully add something to what I have already read. I wish I did not get snowed out of my other test as I had 7 full consecutive days to devote to studying for this back in February.

I dont understand how people pay for these materials to study from. $1500 on average for most course materials I mean come on thats hard to come by with Student Loans and such. I wish I had more materials than just Becker at my disposal for this test Friday.

offlineMemberWell, I just scheduled my test for April 29! So far, I've passed BEC and REG using nothing but Wiley (the book, not the software), which seems to work pretty well. I was kind of thinking about buying the software, but I don't want to spend that much money, so hopefully I can keep a good thing going with my study strategy. I felt like the Wiley multiple-choice questions were really good preparation for REG, so I hope that's true for AUD, as well.
Does anyone who's already taken AUD have thoughts about the practice questions in the Wiley book?

offlineMemberlauren_d - Hi, looks like we are on the same schedule - I've passed BEC & REG, but I'm using Becker. I'm using the lectures, reading and taking notes, MCQs and flashcards. I also have the Final Review. I haven't scheduled AUD yet, but hoping to take it at the end of April or beg. of May. I've gotten a slower start on studying because of tax season!

offlineMemberlauren_d - someone I know used the Wiley book just for the questions and did well on her second attempt at the exam. She did Becker the first time & didn't pass. After using the Wiley questions she was in the 80's and said she felt good on the exam with the questions. Hope this helps!

offlineMemberI started using the Wiley book and Yaeger DVDs last night. They are in a different format than the Becker books but already I like the Wiley book better. There seems to be more detail and much more MCQs along with sample simulations at the end of each Module. If it seems like this works better than Becker I will buy the Wiley book for BEC when i take it in Mid-May.

offlineMemberSam - What state are you in & are you a NASBA state or independent? If you are independent I would call your board of examiners or if you are NASBA you might want to call them. I am not sure how fast the other states have released or if there are any others still waiting.
