   Took AUD today, first MCQ was easy. Second was harder, Third was about as difficult as the second. The sims were a bit of a shocker, but thankfully I left myself around 2:45. I Went through them all with an hour and a half remaining and finished with 45 minutes on the clock. I used the authoritative literature on a few of them (non research of course) and it was quite helpful. As always, no idea if I passed. I got an 84 on the Wiley practice test, then a 93 on the CPAexcel practice test, and a 82 last night on the Wiley Practice.

   2nd time taking audit today..

   i thought 1st testlet was medium, 2nd testlet medium, 3rd testlet HARD.
   i have to say the MCQs were much more difficult this time around.. 1st time i took the test, I did very well on the MCQs.

   simulations were difficult once again.. i know i got the research questions and 2 others i directly got from the AL. so im confident i got 3 simulations 100% correct but the other 4 are toss ups.. i pretty much guess..

   overall.. idk but not too confident.. just need a 75%!

   Just got out of AUD about two hours ago. I walked out of this exam feeling like my grade is going to be borderline but I also felt this way for FAR,REG, and BEC. I'll just have to wait and let the AICPA grade my exam. Hopefully I passed.

   Took AUD this morning and this is how I feel:

   1st testlet: Medium
   2nd testlet: Harder
   3rd: Medum/Hard

   Overall, my test was very "wordy." I did not have a whole lot of one word answer choices. With that said, Becker helped me prepare for those ;long, wordy, scenario questions.

   I was feeling alright until the SIMS. I only had ONE research question! Don't ASSume you are going to get 2. I was panic strucken at the end because I thought the last question was going to be my second research question and it was a terribly long one that I know I bombed because I was low on time.

   I am not confident that I passed, but hopefully the CPA Gods will look out for me and everyone else taking this first wind of 2013 exams.

   Now off to start my Birthday weekend.

   When I took Audit the second time I scored a passing average on the sims, but not on the MCQ. I'm taking the exam again next week. I think the reason I did well on the sims was because I read a lot of the authoritative literature and I knew how to look it up. If you can access it fast you can look up things you aren't sure about. I think the AICPA sets it up this way because they want you to be familiar with the authoriative literature. If there is a topic you don't understand before the exam, go to the AICPA website and get a free download PDF of the topic- say Audit Sampling AU 350, and then read it. It can really help.

   I sat on Thursday... I didn't really notice any change in the difficulty.... They may have gotten a little wordier and there were a couple where I could totally see how they were trying to trick us, but it wasn't like FAR where you open a testlet that contains nothing but difficult calculations. So either I knew the material and just didn't notice the difference, or I completely bombed the multiple choice. I know I nailed the simulations because I had so much extra time that I verified the majority of my answers with the auth lit. My research question was a beast. Very hard to figure out but I eventually found it word for word.

   I also noticed that I did not get one single question that I have seen before. I practiced all of the cpaexcel multiple choice and about half of the Wiley test bank. That being said, there wasn't any questions that were completely out of left field. All in all, I guess I feel pretty good, except for not noticing the questions getting harder... In fact, if I would have noticed a difference I probably would be far more confident.

   I also joined the red panties club for this one, so I'm hoping that throws a little luck my way ;)

   Took AUD today, multiple choices got harder each section for me, and then i'm completely bombed on the SIM. Those gosh darn it research questions are always a hit or MISS!! I hate this process!!!!!

    Just took my AUD exam today. Did anyone find this exam easy? That was the feeling I had when I walked out of the testing center. You know what they say though when that happens though. Has anyone ever scored and felt good on the same exam?

    Breakdown:

    Testlet 1: Medium
    Testlet 2: Harder-Medium
    Testlet 3: Medium-Easy?

    I felt I knew a majority of the MCQ's and flagged only 5-6 per testlet. Some I flagged just to double check but was already kind of sure about the answer, so maybe only 3-4 I was unsure on per testlet.

    The SIMS weren't too bad either. All in all, I had a big smile on my face walking out but it's hard to tell because you never know with the CPA Exam.

    Here's to the next 2 weeks! Best of luck to everyone else!

    Took AUD on the 18th and normally I don't notice a test changing in difficulty, but holy cow. My first testlet felt incredibly easy which I was smiling ear to ear about. Then WHAM, the second testlet was an obvious jump in difficulty and I got a little more uneasy. Third testlet was medium/hard overall. There definitely is something to testlets changing. But who knows how good/bad it is. I do know I killed the first testlet and then felt ok about the rest.

    Here's to passing! GL all. Going to try and not sweat this one, but it's incredibly crucial for me. Did my best.

    I was actually unaware of this. But this link provides as fact that testlet 1 is always medium and even provides answers to questions like what if the difficult doesn't change.

    All this time I thought it was theory. Feeling "slightly" better about doing so well testlet 1 and noticing an obvious jump in difficulty. SIMS always scare me because 40% of your grade on difficult SIMS can swing either way.

    @StudyHarder - I was actually getting worried about how easy the test seemed to me. It was my 2nd time taking it and the entire time I was just in shock because of how easy the questions were. Even the SIMs were (relatively) easier. I remember last time I took the exam the SIMs were much more abstract and the MCQs were wordier. I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way about the exam! Now let's just hope the results are just as positive :)

    I took the exam 2 days ago. It was my third time and my last score was a 73. I took it in August, November, and now January. The multi's did seem to be medium difficulty until I got to the third testlet and they got very wordy and complicated, so I think that means they were more difficult. I had a hard time understanding what they wanted me to answer. I had to go fast because I wanted 2 hours for my sims. Then the sims were really tough and the kind that relied on judgment rather than looking things up in the authoritative literture. On my second exam I scored well on the sims but not on the MCQ. This time I think I did well on MCQ and I am hoping and praying I did well on the sims. The other strange thing is that I had 3 sims that were identical to the first audit exam I took in August. I sure hope I passed. I feel like I really know the material after all this time and study.

    Just got home from taking AUD. This is the first time I've left a test center feeling ok, almost good, about the test. It feels great although I know feeling doesn't mean much on this test. I'm already counting down to a FAR score on 2/5 (well hopefully 2/4) and am now starting the countdown for 2/25 too. At least now I can take a break from studying. It was getting too difficult to study after work since it's busy season for my client now.

    Hey Guys,

    Did anyone think the exam was easy? Haha. Of course I stumbled on several questions and guessed but for the majority of the MCQs I think I answered correctly. Honestly, I am almost positive that I passed. Most people say, myself included; as an exam gets progressively harder the higher the score. I would rate my testlets as: Easy/Medium, Medium/Sightly More Difficult but not Hard and the same for the third testlet. My worry is that since I do not think the exam became progressively harder means that I didn't pass.

    Going into the exam I was also worried about the simulations. But the simulations were not terrible either. I was able to copy one simulation word for word from the authoritative literature. Haha. I am also pretty sure that I got the research question correct which is always a plus.

    Maybe I am overly confident because this is my last exam and I just want to be finished. Nonetheless, I studied two months for audit using Becker 2012. Sucks I have to wait 30+ days for my score. ILBOA is terrible at releasing scores. At least I'll be preoccupied for the next few days..much needed vacay to Vegas!!!!

    @Jambueh: I took it last Saturday and am somewhat freaked out by how easy it was. I half wonder if it is going to take a higher percentage to get to a score of 75. I had a nearly identical experience to what you describe, and I'm wondering "what's the catch?"

    I finished on1/19 at 5pm, so there's a chance ill have to wait until the second wave of score releases.

    Got back from AUD 2 hours ago.
    1st testlet:Easy
    2nd testlet:Harder/Medium
    3rd testlet:Medium

    MCQ's all doable, a few flagged. Had 2 hours left for SIMS. SIMS were reasonable. 1 Research SIM found in 2 minutes. Other 5 hopefully a lot of partial credit. Used AL for most. 1 very long, hoping pretest. Wait and see now! In the meantime, on to FAR rematch. Highly recommend Ninja flashcards.

    Took the exam last week. Not sure why people think its easy, but I thought my exam was difficult. Also, felt that Becker missed the boat on what is 'heavily tested.' Don't want to disclose any information - I would say study everything regardless of what Becker claims is 'heavily tested.'

    SIMS: same as everyone said

    I'm thinking it's gonna take a higher % to get a 75, they can only pass 45ish% of us

    When you guys say 1st Testlet was "easy" it's obviously subjective. But the AICPA states that all 1st testlet's are of "medium" difficulty and adjust from there. Just to keep things clear for people unaware :-)

    There are only two difficulties for MCQ testlets; "medium", and "difficult". The exam always starts with a medium testlet, but since there is no "easy" the difficulty will either go up or stay the same. It cannot go down for the second testlet.
    Of course, "difficult" is subjective. The only difference between a medium testlet and a difficult testlet is that the difficult testlet is comprised of questions that have a lower percentage of correct answers from prior tests and survey questions. As such, the "difficult" questions should be worth more weight toward a passing score.
    However, the weighting of individual questions is adjusted progressively for each scoring period (20 days), so if your fellow candidates do particularly well on a "difficult" question it will be weighted less for everyone.

    I think when people say the exam was "easy" they only mean it in a relative manner. I took the AUD exam earlier this month and definitely felt it was easier than the previous time I sat for it...by a lot. Not sure if that means I'll have to answer more questions correctly to get the 75 or if I just knew most of the material. Maybe the AICPA throws out a couple "easy" exams to keep the passing rate at decent level? It's all speculative at this point. I guess we'll find out in a week.

    So is it true that simulations are graded relative to how other exam takers did on the exact same sims as you? I've heard that theory thrown around on here quite a bit. If a sim is easy, and most people get it 100% correct, and you miss a few parts, you can end up getting very very little credit?

    in 2011, AUD had the 2nd highest pass rate outta the 4 exams cumulative
    in 2012, it had the lowest pass rate

    maybe they're tryna raise the avg again??

    So I woke up this morning with a completely different mind set on my performance of the AUD exam. I've tried not to think about it too much, but have felt pretty good about how well I did, but after reading a couple posts yesterday I think I might be adjusting my outlook. When I took the exam, I felt it was very fair and without any big surprises. However, I now am feeling less confident as I realize that although I may have correctly answered a large percent of the questions, the level of difficulty and weight put on those questions could be considerably less than another test taker's exam. This would be consistent with AICPA's statement regarding the comparison of two test taker's scores. Two scores are able to be compared with eachother even though the tests may have been different due to the individual weights of each question.

    Needless to say I am now pretty nervous about this Friday or Monday or Tuesday...whenever the scores are to be released.

    I took the exam on Monday. First time I have taken an exam on a date that was the day before a weekend or holiday. Thought it was kinda a nice change of pace. This is my second time taking it and the experience was pretty much the same as the first. I didnt notice the third testlet getting harder. But overall, without jynxing myself or anything, I thought the entire exam was pretty fair.

    I used Becker and also used Ninja notes/questions. So on top of doing all the Becker questions almost twice, I did all the Ninja questions which is another 1000. I took REG on the 11th of this month, so I only allowed myself 16 days to restudy to retake the AUD. And to be honest, I think I allowed myself enough time. So for those who have failed an exam, if you are going to retake, I think you'll be fine with less study days, the material was still in my head.

    I'm just hoping to pass this time because I feel I've paid my dues!
