Almost_there - I agree. My simulations were very strange. Of course, none of the stuff that I had anticipated was on the simulations. Mine weren't terrible either - I certainly wouldn't call them easy, but I was pleasantly surprised!

Soontobe, my simulations were also almost identical. It was pretty bizarre. Does anyone know if how you do on the multiple choice determines which simulations you get?
MC performance has no impact on your simulations. My 2 written coms were almost identical as well. Fortunately, I work in audit and was able to use experience to answer them. All I can say is that it was covered in becker and not a major topic so good luck
I agree that multiple choice has no impact on your simulations. I was also able to use my audit experience for the written communications. The topic was definitely covered in Becker, but it was not a major topic. I believe the research tab probably would have helped, though, but I didn't need to use it.
stjohns796 - how do you feel that you did on the exam? Your scores are almost identical to mine, so it seems we have the same strengths. I was done with almost 2 hours to go - which makes me a little nervous that I didn't spend enough time. But I've been doing auditing for almost five years now, so a lot of it was familiar to me.
soontobecpa - I feel I did well on the exam. I have only 2 yrs of public audit experience but it certainly helped with this section. I could 100% tell my exam got harder, particularly the first vs second mc section. The questions had more tricks/twists/steps in them. I am pretty sure I bombed a few tabs in the sims, but I believe the rest of my test should be enough to pass (hopefully). I went into the sims with 2.5-3 hrs to go but used a ton of time on my WC and tried to look up other sim tab info using the research tab. This did not work nearly as well as I was hoping, so I reccommend no one rely on using the research tab to get answers. good luck!
SoontobeCPA AND Almost there-- I found same thing as you guys-I had same simulation from previous exam. I found it little bit weird. I don't know what to think........
AUD-NY: Maybe the AICPA decided "screw coming up with new material, this old stuff seems to be doing a pretty good job of failing people"....ha ha.
Just took the test yesterday, not sure how I feel about it. Felt pretty confident on about 2/3 of the MC, didn't really notice too much change in difficulty. Research on the sims helped for about 50% of it. I tend to take tests quickly in general, and ended up leaving about an hour early. Anyone know how detailed the written communications have to be, or have a ballpark on like a raw score on the MC for passing? I feel like I have a decent chance of passing, but being that I'm not an auditor by trade, I'm concerned that there are gonna be some ringers setting the bar high...
Almost_there - let's hope they were old simulations. If they are new, then we won't get our scores until the second wave - and I don't know if I can wait that long!
I think I got new simulation......because they were so short.... I don't know what am I going to do If I fail this time......
AUD NY, i dont know what to do if I fail this time either....I will be so screwed! I work in tax so audit has been the hardest section for me...so tricky and confusing! This was my 3rd time taking it
BlondeAccountant- This is my third time as well....I thought I did better than last two time mcqs....but simulation was so short.....and confusing.....I passed all other parts in first attempt...
Sounds like all of us are working on our third time with this beast of an exam! I can't wait for the week of Feb 18th!!!! C'mon 75!!!!!!!!!!
I never failed in my entire college life....and this audit gave me the pleasure of failure....I will not tell none of my friends if I fail it this time...because they will make negative comments.....\
I too will be taking Audit for a third time. 69 in August 2009, 74 in November 09 and now I just postponed the exam from Monday Feb. 1st to Friday Feb. 5th.
I'm going to sign up for the Yaeger CRAM this Saturday (1/30) then study all day Sunday and Mon-Fri. I'm hoping the additional time will get me that additional 1 point (75.)
But reading everyone's threads is getting me nervous. It sounds like the Simulations are a curve ball during this wave.
Any advice would be welcomed..........
My simulations weren't a "curve ball" if it makes you feel any better. One of the tabs was almost exactly like a simulation tab I had when I took it in July. There is hope wannabee.......there wasn't anything in my sims that I thought "holy crap where did that come from"
Please any one can suggest the approximate study time for preparing Audit exam. How many days it takes to prepare for the audit exam and how many no of hours per day to study?
shm_cpa
I've heard about 80 hours for Audit-so whether you can do 4 weeks at 20/hrs or more hours in a week-thats up to your schedule. Good luck!
me too AUD NY! I always have been such a good student and been able to overcome challenges. But this one....is setting me up for failure
AUD will be my first section to study for. I will take the exam in February. I am doing the live classes, but I have already started studying. Everybody on here keeps saying they study the Multiple Choice questions, and then they study the supplemental questions. What's the difference? How do I find the supplemental questions?
south0085, when people mention the supplemental questions they talk about the Becker materials. Becker has a certain number of questions associated with each section of the material that they consider essential to be worked on. On top of that, they provide extra, supplemental questions for each section that a candidate may choose to work on or not. What study materials are you using?
Thank you. I am using Becker. I've only looked at the cd-rom one time. As I'm going along with the lecture there are questions. Also, their are additional questions for each little sub-section. For example, their might be 8 questions for this sub-section and then 88 for another one. When I finish these, it says 100% of the questions for this have been completed. Are these the supplemental questions that you are talking about or are their even more questions hidden somewhere else??
Yep, those are the ones. I try to get the supplemental questions done too but if I'm short on time, or comfortable with that section, then I skip them. Typically they don't count the supplemental questions in the 100% figure. Sometimes, I noticed, the supplemental questions have funny MCQs, meaning MCQs with more or less than the typical 4 choices, all going from the same set of facts. My guess is that these are former simulations broken down and re-fitted to a MCQ format.
Does anyone practice the written communication while doing practice simulations? I do the simulations but I just never feel motivated enough to practice the writing.
@ihavecpaocd
I've done Becker for FAR and AUD and not once had the motivation to write a memo for it. I usually clicked the answer button immediately just to get an idea of what they are looking for in regards to content and length.
Thank you zena. I hope to go thru each multiple choice question 2 times. If possible.
Just took my exam today-not horrible but not a piece of cake by any ways. My 2nd testlet was nasty-felt like "just get me outta this testlet!"
I'm definetely ready for the week of Feb 15th to see my score!
Got out of Audit an hour ago. It took me 2 1/2 hours to take it. The first testlet took 10 minutes to make it through; the questions seemed really easy. The 2nd and 3rd were harder; about 25 minutes each for those. Spent 1 1/2 hours on the sims; looked up a lot just to be sure. Some tabs in the sims were tricky; not sure how I did on those.
Hopefully I passed; will be taking regulation in April as *hopefully* my last test.
Just took Auditing today and here is my opinion
1st testlet very very easy
2nd testlet medium difficult
3rd testlet very very hard
Simulation not crazy like Regulation exam
written communication, I guess i will make it through as it was all discussed in becker
simulations were unrelated tab, a little tricky but again if you practiced becker simulations, you will get a pretty good handle of it. Overall, the first time felt very confident came out of the test. The material was relatively easy than BEC and REG
Can anybody suggest from where Can I practice the Audit Multiple Choice questions. My Becker software has expired. I have becker book to prepare. Is wiley a good option. I have searched the wiley web, but it shows that 2010 edition has not yet come and 2009 edition of spftwear is out of stock. Kindly suggest the available options.
