For those of you that had some auditing experience prior to taking the audit section of the exam, what was your experience with the exam? Did you find that your on the job audit experience was helpful? Did you find the exam harder than you expected?

I have about a year and a half of audit experience and am taking audit on Monday. I have gone through all the CPAExcel lessons as well as answered all the Wiley test bank questions, and have started on NINJA MCQ’s.

In answering the MCQ’s I have found that my “auditor’s mindset” has helped answer questions even though I didn’t necessarily know the answer. I think I feel as prepared as one can for the CPA exam, but reading through the AUD Exam Experience thread has me a little nervous. I’m just curious what other’s experiences have been.

I am a sales tax auditor, and that section taught me that what I do is not “real auditing.” It is also the only section I failed, which was kind of uncomfortable when my boss asked me how I did on it…
