I just came back from my retake of AUD. All I could think of is “oh man”!! After failing the first test (70) I hit the books like mad. I studied Beckers, Wiley’s and all the Ninja notes and audio. Took me over 2 months to study again. I was scoring in the 80’s and 90’s on the practice exams. There was no way I wasn’t going to know the test! I knew the material cold. And then sitting at the exam today, i kept looking at the top of the computer screen to make sure it was the right test!? None of the questions seemed familiar. The MCQ were so hard, and not at all similar to those of my review material. The only questions I felt more confident on where the stimulations. Can I hope on that? My main concern is that if this ends up being a failed grade, how do I study differently next time around ?

    FAR: Passed
    AUD: Passed
    REG: Passed
    BEC: Passed

Hard MCQ's is probably an indication that you probably did well on first and/or 2nd testlet. As for SIMS, you probably either didn't do so well on the 3rd testlet and got a medium difficulty SIMS, or you did well on all 3 testlets and got SIM questions that you knew how to answer. Either way, it seems like you did well on the test.

I also used WTB and Ninja Notes, and I averaged low to mid 80's. On the actual exam I also had tough MCQ's. the only difference between your experience and my exam experience is the SIMS. I ended up getting SIMS on concepts I wasn't familiar with, hence doing poorly on the SIMS with the score of 75.

If you do end up failing, I would review concepts you're weak in and do a light review on the concepts you're familiar with

@CPaCooker to my understanding, the sims you get aren't related to how well you do on the exam. There's no level of difficulty, just a slew of questions the AICPA gives at random to make our lives miserable 🙂

Thanks for your response. I kept trying to evaluate if the questions are getting harder in testlets 2 and 3. They defiantly were but I found testlet 1 hard too. At this point, I just have to wait and see……

It is my understanding that the SIMS are predetermined and not based on how well/poorly you do on the multiple choice. I think you just lucked out on getting SIMS that seemed more relevant to the material. I'm waiting for my AUD score as well…good luck!

    REG - 86
    FAR - 80
    BEC - 79
    AUD - 92...I'm done woohoo!
