    Sat for audit 3 times!!!

First time I studied for 2 months and scored 72 mostly because I got SIMS that were very difficult, and not in the AL. SIMS like that are unreasonably difficult for someone with no experience in audit.

Second time I studied for additional 2 months, and I got 71, due to insane SIMS…again.

Both times my score report had me “stronger” in all areas of MCQ and weaker for SIMS.

Finally for the third time I barely studied and just opened my notes 2 days before the exam to review. Got easy SIMS which I was able to find in AL.

    Scored 90…..

Exam as serious as this one should not have so much luck factor involved

    FAR - 76*, 73, 85
    BEC - 69, 72, 78*, 80
    AUD - 72, 71, 90
    REG - 71, 74, 85

    AFTER 3 YEARS I'M DONE!!!

You've been looking at Audit stuff for a long time now sooooo…

And yes there is some luck involved with what questions you get.

    BEC - 78
    AUD - 75
    REG - 74, 79
    FAR - 75

You have to buy a ticket to win the raffle.

    Hi!

I just posted another thread about something like that… my experience…

I've score 72 72 73 and approaching my re-take…. I got strong in 5 topics and comparable in 1 topic, strong MCQ's and weak in Sim's – luck luck luck…….. I just need a little luck! last test I was not able to use the AL at all…… Got very difficult sims!

Praying that my re-take goes same way as your 90!

I really agree with this. I feel like I got very unlucky my first time taking AUD and scored a 67. I studied like mad and was getting 80's and 90's on all hw's, practice tests, everything.

    Such crap.

Rematch this November, hopefully I get some easier SIMS.

    BEC: 86
    FAR: 76
    REG: 74, 84
    AUD: 67, retaking 11/22

The exam is weighted people. Harder questions = fewer questions correct required to get the same score, even with SIMS as far as I know. The only real luck that I can see is the specific weighting of sub-topics. So for example, we may know that Internal Control will be a certain % of the AUD exam, but we don't know which subtopics are going to make up that portion of Internal Control. Those of us who happen to get an exam that is heavy in sub-topics that we nail during the review usually do better than those of us who don't. Of course the problem with relying on luck is that the minute you do that, you have to accept that passing the exams is out of your control. What this does is make it easier to console yourself when you fail (awww…bad LUCK!) but it makes it harder to actually PASS. A bit of advice. Forget luck. Focus on your trouble sub-subtopics in a retake. Not the ones that happened to pop up on the exam last time, but ALL of them. If you fail again, accept full responsibility, make some tweaks to your study plan and go at it again.

    ^^

so there is no luck when you get SIMS where they ask you to fill in missing information of XXX report vs SIMS on transaction cycles?

On my third exam I got 3 SIMS which were to fill in missing information on XXX report, and you can find that report in the AL within 1 min. Thus….I got a 90

    FAR - 76*, 73, 85
    BEC - 69, 72, 78*, 80
    AUD - 72, 71, 90
    REG - 71, 74, 85

When you take CPA exam, you must review as if no amount of luck/prayer will help. Then once you took the exam, pray/wish for luck as if no amount of review would help you pass.

I think you're right that there are certain topics where no amount of review will help you unless you have prior experience.

Over the period of my 3 attempts I spent over a month just on transaction cycles and trying to understand it, memorize it and get it right. I still do not understand it!!!

    FAR - 76*, 73, 85
    BEC - 69, 72, 78*, 80
    AUD - 72, 71, 90
    REG - 71, 74, 85

Funkits: what I'm saying is that it's WEIGHTED. Solid preparation reduces fear of “hard” SIMS because you know that you need fewer correct to get the same score and if you are fully prepared you know you will get some of them, even if they are hard. My point was to simply focus on what you can control, which is your preparation. The rest is just a huge distraction. We all wish for good luck walking into the exam…but relying on it is a classic symptom of poor preparation.

If you study enough you should do well enough to pass the exam. It's just finding out what study method works best for you can take a few times. I do agree that there is some luck involved. That's just part of the exam process.

Don't focus too much on exact amounts. And like the others, keep practicing MCQs until you can't take it anymore.

Same here! I gave my Audit exam with an okayish average preparation and scored 65 on it (First attempt).

Sadly I am not an American native/living in States and have to travel to states to write my exam every time so preparing all 4 at once to save on cost but seems really tough. 🙁

    Here is my AUD experience:

Studied for 3 months, totally remembered all the things in the book (no joke), and got a 74. Report said weak in Engagement and strong in others.

Took a little break, rested for a month, read the book again, didn't do any question, and got a 89. The exam was 4 hours but I finished in within 2 hours. I thought the second one was harder than the first one but I got 15 points more.
