AUD Research SIM with * at the end

I just had an AUD research SIM in the WTB counted as incorrect because I didn’t put an asterisk at the end of it. Everything else was correct. What is the purpose of the *?

I wouldn't sweat over it. WTB may be glitchy. I would write to a rep in Wiley if it helps.
