AUD retake – wow

Had my retake for AUD this morning. This exam seemed about 10x harder than my first AUD exam. It went like this:

    Testlet 1 – Hard

    Testlet 2 – Much harder

Testlet 3 – Somewhere in between Hard and Much harder

SIMS – Are you kidding me???

I had 2 research SIMs so I know one was pretest, which sucks because I am pretty sure I got both right. I had 2 other SIMs that I think I may have done OK on and the other 3 were pretty much shots in the dark. Couldn’t really use the AL for anything but the research questions.

So here I am, begging for someone to relate to me to make me feel better until score release on Feb 4. I am not panicking yet because this was a similar experience to my 2nd FAR exam, which resulted in a pass. Both exams where I thought “it wasn’t too bad”, I failed. So I take difficulty as a good sign, but I am a little more worried about these AUD SIMs than I was my FAR exam. I really do not want to have to do this a 3rd time.

    Anyone have any words?

I also had two research sims, not sure though if one in fact is a throw away…I've read several interpretations.

@debitcash – Really? That could give me some hope if they both counted. Do you have any sources proving that both could potentially count?

I felt the same way – I think a lot of people did. Here is a link to the AUD exam experience topic that has a lot of posts about experiences similar to yours

Been analyzing everyone's responses who have gotten back from BEC or AUD this quarter so far. Difficulty consensus is HARD and nothing I've ever seen before. Whats up with that? Really concerning.

Is this typical for the start of a new year?

My source is this forum, this question has been asked numerous amounts of times. I've read that candidates passed/failed in both cases. At this point, it really does not make sense to think about how you may or may not have done. What's done is done. You and I seem to be on a similar track in terms of our order of exams. How are you doing in your BEC studies?

@Dmb2stepper I dont think there was anything on the MC that wasn't at least touched on in Becker, not so much for the SIMS. I didn't notice any change in difficulty between testlets it just seemed like I could narrow a few questions down to 2 answers and would have to guess. Im not too confident on this one because I did not sense a change in difficulty. Praying for a 75.

@debitcash – You are right, whats done is done. I am starting BEC this weekend. Will be putting in 20+ hours a week until Feb 29. Have you started studying? And when is your test?

    @cpa2bee

I did in fact start studying, using Becker, just went through all of the B1 lecture. Going through the MC as we speak. Actually would like to incorporate Ninja MCQs as well but am not sure what I should do, wait till I finish all of Becker and then proceed to the Ninja MCQ or do it together as I go through Becker.

Have my exam scheduled for Feb 28th.

Nice, I am going to buy NINJA MCQs for BEC, I did it for AUD after my first attempt and really liked it. I probably will just use it in my review phase. So far, both times I have used Becker only the first time through and failed both times, so maybe a supplement can help me knock out BEC the first time. But good luck studying and I'll be on the BEC study group on here too, those can be very helpful.

    I wouldn't assume that 2 research SIMS means 1 was a pretest.

I just took mine yesterday, and… yikes!

The mcq were not too bad, I felt decently confident until I got to the tbs. They will definitely be what breaks me. I also had two research questions which sucks because then I had three off the wall sims that were nothing like anything I've seen in Becker or Wiley. I was basically just guessing on those 3 and it would have been impossible to use the AL to help on those sims.

I feel like they are testing tbs for the new 2017 exams, maybe? Guess we'll know in two weeks, because I felt like crap leaving that exam.

Guys.. I came back from AUD RETAKE test and I feel absolutely terrible about it.

From start to finish I felt none of the questions confidently answered; MCQ and SIMS. I was surprised by the level of difficulty of my very first question.

This was a retake test and I studied almost three months straight, study only, no work, life in a library nearly every hour while my eyes were open. Skipped my bday, Christmas, New Year's eve just to raise the score and .. it was MORE difficult than my first one…

I scored avg 70 and Trending score of +80 and +80% on Roger's MCQ as well (although I failed my first take..)

Could It be that I had pre-test questions at the beginning of the exam?? Or did AICPA changed the difficulty of the exam for 2016?? SIMs were absolutely guessing game for me…

Every single question was a “Trickery” question if you know what I mean… Those questions that tries to get you offguarded..When learned that I passed the REG, I had these types of questions on later testlets. So I thought these were “Very difficult” type of questions. But I had these on my first AUD testlet… Not sure how much more I need to study to pass..
