AUD – Sampling

Simple question – Is it worth my time to take a deep dive into Sampling or are there bigger fish to fry? I was considering just reading the material and then answering a limited amount of questions because I don’t want to waste too much time if I don’t need to. Also, any general tips on areas to spend extra time on in AUD? I hear a lot of people referencing the overlap with FAR and I am not really sure what they mean? I have not done any SIMs yet so maybe that’s where the FAR overlap comes into play? Any general study topic suggestions would be appreciated especially when it comes to the FAR portion because I have no FAR experience yet.

    BEC - 83
    AUD - 86
    FAR - 78 (Done!)

sometimes audit SIMS make you do general journal entries. I took it before FAR and it was fine. Anyone with an accounting degree doesn't need to study for the level of journal entries in audit in my opinion.

My opinion, bigger fish to fry. I took Audit 3x and never had a sampling question. I think you MIGHT get a question or two on a MCQ, doubtful on a SIM… so as long as you know some basics you should be good.

Bigger fish to fry..you're way better off using the time to focus more on audit reports or the audit cycle. I don't remember how many questions I received on sampling, but all I studied was just the definitions for each type of sampling technique. I didn't even bother to go through the details of how to do each one, lol. If it did burn me, it didn't do so badly enough to prevent me from passing. 🙂
