Hey everyone, been a longtime follower first-time poster.

Was wondering – has anyone ever scored Stronger in all MCQ areas and Weaker in SIMS and still not pass? Did not think this was possible until I just checked my score. AUD 74 (depressing) with all MCQ areas stronger and SIMS weaker.

I am VERY disappointed. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I was in a similar situation to you with my first AUD exam. I scored comparable in all areas on the MCQ and weaker in the Simulation and scored a 74.

From what I read on the AICPA website about the scoring system I do not believe it is possible to pass without improving the simulation score. BEC was the only exam hinted at you could pass with only MCQ's and even then it would be very difficult.

    AUD - (74),78
    BEC - 85
    FAR - 86
    REG - 84

@Iron_Victory Thanks for your response. So, your understanding is that you need to improve on the SIMS from the MCQs to pass? If I get 99% on the MCQ, surely that doesn't mean I must get 100% on the SIMS in order to have a chance at passing…

I thought by knowing the MCQs well enough that this would be reflected in my SIM score. I mean, technically, I got at least +81% on all the MCQs, I know I found the code, scored at least +85% in three of the SIMs…totally shocked that I didn't pass.

Thinking about challenging the score, but doubt that would do any good.

Good luck on your next try at AUD.

On my past REG test I didn't get to finish it. Had over 1/2 of 2 testlets not finished when time ran out, for sure thought I failed it. Made a 79 on it and was weaker in SIMS and stronger overall in MCQ.

Doing all this with a 2yr old and newborn to boot!!
    BEC - 64(2/2013), 75 🙂 4/2013
    REG - 79 🙂 7/2013
    AUD - 52(2/2013), 77 🙂 8/2013
    FAR - 11/2013

I got my audit score this past Friday and I also got a 74. I did not even think it was possible to score within a point of passing and I am sure my point was in the sims section. I have read that there is a review process but I don't know all the details so I am going to call on Monday and maybe I can get some insight. But it looks like, once again, I will try to take it in the beginning of October. Has anyone ever checked about the review process?

Just checked my score for AUD….Another 74!!! *condolences five*

I scored Comparable in Understanding the Engagement (12-16%), Stronger in Procedures and Evidence (16-20%), weaker in other areas. Comparable for sims.

Unfortunately, it is what it is. AICPA's methodology for scoring is one of the greatest mysteries in the universe.

Let's pick ourselves up and continue the fight, until one day, when the glory is ours!!!

    REG - 72, 72, 81
    BEC - 77
    FAR - 70, 81
    AUD - 74 "so that's what it feels like." Round 2: 79

Passing the exam is not impossible task. GIVING UP is the only way YOU can make it impossible!

Did you make sure to utilize the “authoritative literature” for the Audit sims? 2 of mine could be answered word for word from the literature and parts of 2 others it helped greatly (along with the #7 lookup of course). From reading around on this site that seems to be the case with most people.

    My thing is this:

I wouldn't think a candidate scoring stronger in all MCQ (with the assumption that they understood the material based off the stronger MCQ score) sections could do so poorly on SIMS not to pass. I must have gotten a 64% on SIMS based off the conservative assumption that I scored 81% on MCQs.

    100% devastated.

What part of the SIMs were the most difficult for everyone?

@Bill Yes, I used it to the best of my ability but I would say three of them were the “straight out of FAR” variety and AL did not help.

I know I got the research question right, three more +85%, so the three remaining must have been my “shining moment” where the audit gods decided I was not worthy.

I think I may take FAR which will hopefully better prepare me for AUD, and only study the clarity standards. At the same time, I want to challenge the score.

Another 74 reporting here. This was my 2nd time and i found the MCQS a little harder on this exam as for the SIMs two were straight out of FAR which is a big challenge for me. Well i guess its back to AUD material for now

    AUD - 82
    BEC - 78
    FAR - 78
    REG - 83

I am crying since past friday I got AUD socre 72 and it was my second attempt ,First time I got 73 :(:(

Was hopingor dreaming that I would get a call from NASBA that because of the server thingy they by mistake reported 72 instead of 75 :(:(:(

I was so hoping to be get done with Audit.

After I get my score report will know where I baffled..Simulations for sure..My exam was terrible but was still tiny bit hoping as people say feeling terrible about exam is good…But turns out for me if i feel terrible abt exam that means its terrible Atleast for AUD..

Now studying BEC but still I am feeling so so so sad..My family told me try again but still I am doing nothing but studying ,if i take a break i feel guillty for not studying and because of the lap in between.

Will reappear in Nov after I give BEC in Oct…

A pass score would have boosted my confidence….But seems AUD is playing tricky for me and demotivating me..

So either I prove myself and Pass AUD or just give up..

Sorry I am posting all this but I really wanto get out and i feel u all will understand..

So those who dint pass lets try again…I will take some days to grasp the Audit second time failure 🙁

FAR- 79 -->Becker self study, Final review & Flashcards
REG -72-->Becker ,76-->Becker plus Wiley test bank
    AUD- 73 Becker,72-->Becker+Wiley,69-->Added ninja notes,89 --> Added Gleim review
BEC- 84 Becker plus Wiley Test bank

    I am Done !!!!

If you can pass far you can most certainly pass audit. What area gave you trouble? How were your practice scores?

For me, I just read all the auidt reports over and over again and just did MCQs in my weak areas.

I was scoring in 80's in practice test that are the progress tests in Becker and In Wiley I was scoring in 75's

For me I was having trouble with Internal Control and Audit Evidence MCQ's and its related Simulations..I was not able to do it correctly …I was missing something..Also Professional responsibilties I used to make mistakes but was scoring in 80's in it.

Other Areas like Accouting and Review services,Audit report, Audit sampling I was completely getting it right.

I will get my score report by monday so will know where I was weak.

My Actual test was tough in the way the MCQ's were wordy and damn tricky so the till the time I came to testlet 3 I was drained and Simulations required application of concepts and the options were tricky so was not confident.I tried my best using AL but this time no success.

In my first exam I used AL tremendously and got 2 sims word to word and did partially correct other sims, but may be i dint perform well in MCQ's so it led me to 73.

I mean I know Audit why cant I tackle it on the exam day..

I did what dutkas did…I took progress tests in my last few days of review then just studied the sections I was weak on. I'm not sure practicing Becker sims helped too much, but I feel like if you know the material you can do the sims. I just made sure to leave A LOT of time for the sims…I failed REG in July with a 74 (stronger on MCQ, weaker on sims). You guys will get it next time for sure!!!

Yeah @ CalCPA1991 Because of wordier questions I took lot of time on MCQ's which is not very common on Audit. I wanted like 2 hours for Sim but was just left with 1.30 hours…

So by the time I came to sim I was worried abt my performance and 🙁

I have also taken REG second time ,first time i was weak in taxation on entity and sims but I passed in second attempt..I did MCQ's for all chapters ,studied like first time..Exam was challenging again but I managed to pass..Wiley Test bank helped me 🙂
