AUD Simulations – Math, Some Math, or No Math?

Hey I just wanted to see from people who have take AUD (since I’m taking it tomorrow) whether the SIMS they encountered were more based on (non-mathematical) concepts, or whether they did experience a few math/ratios/charts types of SIMS. I’m a bit worried. I have been bashing out MCQ’s successfully, and understand the larger concepts, but mathematics come up so infrequently in the review materials that I’m afraid that if I get 2 SIMS full of complex math, I’m done for. Any experience/advice guys? Anyone?

We can't really tell you what we saw on the exams, however, if you have studied it and seen it in the audit book it could potentially be a SIM. There is no complex math in Audit so you are good there. I have read here multiple times that and from past experience with audit., if you know and understand the concepts you have been studying, you should be able to tackle the SIMs.

I wouldn't expect anyone to describe the exact SIM they got, and even if they did, I'm sure I would never get the same one.

My question is more along the lines of: Were you surprised by your SIMS? Were they much bigger and more involved than you were anticipating? Or were they pretty tame? The Becker SIMS seem pretty tame, and I'm just wondering if maybe I should be bracing for a big buzz saw.

I had SIMs on stuff that I had seen in the books and studied. And then there were 2 that was FAR material that I have read about on the forum but didn't bother to prep for so I know I did not get those 2 correct. One of the SIMS had I not been an auditor before I would have been scratching my head for days. Its fair game to say that you will see material from the book and they might throw some FAR material at you. I know someone posted a while back in the audit thread about knowing JEs.

Without getting into the specifics of my SIMs, I would say to not only know what the correct answer should be, but also what should be done after something was done incorrectly in order to correct it.

Just like when you were in college, the most math you'll ever do is maybe a solve for x equation. If you know the calculation you'll be fine. You also have a calculator available.
