I'm joining the study for audit – tentatively, like Picaflora. I took FAR on Thursday (Feb 27) and am anxiously awaiting my score. If I failed, I know what I need to shore up on and will retake in the first week of March. If I passed, then its full speed ahead into auditing.

I've only just opened the auditing book (Becker's self-study) and listed to a few minutes of the lectures. Audit doesn't scare me since I work as a governmental auditor, however, I'm not sure how much of a problem I'll run into since I follow the “yellow” book (GASB rather than FASB). I'm hoping that many of the concepts will overlap and I will just have to focus not the differences.

    Cheers to all!

    REG - Nov 4, 2013: 88
    FAR - Feb 27, 2014: 86
    AUD - April 5, 2014: 91
    BEC - May 6, 2014: 83

    Hello Quinacridone,

I am kinda scared with Audit just like with FAR as one reason I've been out of school since 2005. Another reasons – full-time job and family to take care of. I didn't have a great background with Audit and no real-world audit experience. I'm just following the CPAExcel study planner hoping to connect all these AUDITING dots in the end.

Anything worth doing is probably not easy, but the rewards are worth it. (unknown)

I'm nervous about AUD. I haven't touch that material since June of last year. Trying to get some moral support from my fellow future CPAs.

    FAR – Aug 13 87

    REG – Dec 13 81

    BEC – Feb 14 80

    FAR - Aug 2013 Passed
    REG - DEC 2013 Passed
    BEC - FEB 2014 Passed
    AUD - MAY 2014 Passed

I will begin studying for Audit on Monday after month-end close ends. I will be using CPA Excel videos, text, and MCQs; Wiley MCQs; and NINJA method and flashcards. I work as a Cost Accountant with a background in Individual Tax; audit and far are the least favorable to me. I'll have to approach this like science general education requirements: since I have to pass, might as well learn something.

@ Alicia, with your background I am sure you must hv found BEC not as hard. Also Reg shld be somewhat familiar. I regret not taking a cost accounting class in school. I was trying to avoid the professor who taught it and now its going to come and haunt me since I hear BEC has a lot of cost accounting. Even Finance is hard for me.

Finishing up with A1 in Becker. Question abt the right approach…I have read the chapter once, some sections more than once, however I am still not clear on most of the stuff. Should I reread the chapter and try to fully grasp all concepts or do the MCQs and see how I do on those?

I would say do the MCQs. I learn better that way though, so I guess it depends on how well you pick up the material by just reading it.

    FAR 82
    REG 76
    BEC 71, 78 (There is a light!!!)
    AUD 69, 83 (DONE!!!!)

yup doing MCQs. Its taking long cus I am really trying to understand why the choice is correct and why the other 3 r not correct.

I am using Becker and one thing I am annoyed abt is that Tim Gearty does not really explain much but only reads the book! He does provide certain exam tricks but other than that its all right out of the book. Hardly goes into any details.

@all hey guys here reporting my progres: Planning will be done today (or earlier tomorrow). I found NINJA notes very helpful, I just completed with some of my notes and immediately started with MCQ. I'm understanding first the concepts and I make notes over my MCQ results (I will make the 2nd attempt later next week as a review)..

So far, my scores first attempt are over 73-76, I feel happy, I think they will be up after my second attempt.

Tomorrow and Tuesday my focus will be Internal Control!

I'm making notes in small writting to CRAM better in the last weeks of my study..

    Good luck guys!

Hi everyone! I am going to make 2014 my year, after a few half hearted attempts in the past. I really have to complete the CPA Exam as my company is relocating in Q4 of 2015. I either move with them, which I will hopefully and be ina better position financially or stay here and know that wiht my CPA everything is complete. I have a busy full time job, 4 kids and we are always on the go! I have to make this attempt work, give it my all! I am taking Auditing on April. I am using Wiley self study for AUD and BEC. My company is paying for FAR and REG, so I went with Becker.

I will be retaking Audit in April. Do not have a date yet because I might be relocating. I do plan on taking it April 7 at the latest so I can take BEC in the same window. Like Running_baking I have been at this for a while and am claiming 2014 to be the year I conquer this test. I will be updating my progress as well. I am currently working on Audit Sampling. I am having a hard time grasping some of the concepts. I am going through the Blitz videos now and hopefully tonight I will get started on Auditing with Technology.

My plan is to try and get through the lighter chapters during the week and leave the heavy chapters for the weekends.

    AUD - NINJA in Training
    BEC - NINJA in Training
    FAR - NINJA in Training
    REG - NINJA in Training
    AUD - 1/6/18
    FAR - TBD
    REG - TBD
    BEC - TBD

    AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
    BEC - 8/20/2016
    REG - TBD
    FAR - TBD

I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

Taking AUD April 01… Will find out Friday / Monday if I passed BEC (took 02/28). If all goes as planned, will have all 4 exams done 05/31!

Study plans: already retyped the NINJA notes twice (works better for me than writing out). Now I'm reading the Wiley book and adding to the NINJA notes. That will be done after this weekend. Then onto MCQ – I like to do about 100 a night (3 hours or so, once you add in writing down / highlighting the stuff I got wrong). Along with that is reading my notes over and over again – about 1 hour a day. PLUS listening to lectures on Audio while I drive to / from work (45 min commute each way). SIMs will be hit the weekend before the exam. Worked for REG, think it worked for BEC, hopefully will work for AUD.

Don't have much of a life for the next couple of months…

    Done!!!!
