No posts yet on the AUD Q2 group? Either everyone passed in Q1 or everyone gave up. Hopefully I won't be joining this group for Q2. Please God give me a 75+ on the 10th!!!

Studying for AUD is so much different than FAR. The information is just not clicking. I don't have experience auditing and only took one undergrad class on it and disliked it then just as much as I do now. I've been studying for 4 weeks and have another 4 to go until the test. Any advice on how to best understand this material?

    FAR-85 (1/28/15)
    AUD-91 (4/3/15)
    BEC-82 (5/21/15)
    REG-90 (7/31/15)

    I am done!!!!

I thought a lot of audit was just pure memorization if you don't have any experience working in audit. Mnemonics help with some topics. Your understanding of FAR material should help some as well. It's just a matter of knocking out a ton of MCQ's and hoping you get a test that suits your strengths. Keep hammering away and good luck!

I totally understand. I am praying for a 75. I really don't want to spend any more time on AUD and I know it's going to come down to the sims for me. I don't feel great about them either. Going to be a long night on Monday.

Could anyone explain Emphasis of Matter vs Other Matter paragraphs a little more clearly? I'm still lost as to how the two differentiate.

    Thank you!

My understanding is the difference is the nature of the thing you are drawing attention to, for lack of a better term. With an emphasis of matter paragraph, you are highlighting something that is already disclosed in the financials properly, but you think it's so important you should tell readers “hey look at this”. Additionally, EoMPs usually deal with items that help user's understand the financial statements. You would see things like going concern, justifies changes in accounting principles, and significant related party transactions.

Other matter paragraphs typically deal with things not disclosed in the financials. OMPs help users understand the audit, auditor's report, or auditor's responsibilities. Here you would see things like usage restrictions placed on the audit report, mention of the predecessor auditor, and when only the current period in comparative financials has been audited.

    FAR - 91
    AUD - 88
    BEC - 86
    REG - 79

CTM- How was your SIM?. My SIM was difficult. I am not really that bad on accounting and analytics but my SIM had so many vague instructions that i freaked out. Praying for 75. I got 74 last 2 times with weaker on MCQ but stronger on SIM. This time i did well on MCQ but SIM …I am scared …LOL….Dont know what to think Please….allow me to Pass with 75. I will do anything for NASBA

    BEC Passed
    FAR Passed
    AUD Passed
    REG Passed

I could feel a part of myself slowly dying bit by bit as I read this audit material in Becker. Is it just me or is audit very dry and “different” compared to the other exams. I feel like I am reading an encyclopedia or dictionary! I know I shouldnt be complaining bc I just started with audit, but the material puts me to sleep and by the time I get to the questions I'm like “I learned this from what I've read?!?!”

@willpass, my sims were definitely tricky. There are two that were especially tough and I'm hoping one of those was the pretest. It's all about the sims for me. That said, they got pretty tricky with the wording on the last two testlets, especially the second one. It's crazy how detailed they got with a couple of the MCQ's. I looked up two after the exam and saw that I got them both wrong (hoping those were pretest too). I definitely need some luck.

@cpasucks, AUD is ridiculously dry and completely different from the other sections. There is less material than FAR or REG but it isn't a gimme. Just have to get through the material and knock out MCQ's for days. I really don't want to mess with this one again. Good luck!

@CMT is SIMS for FAR as unpredictable and difficult to prepare for as SIMS for AUD?

I found that the problem with AUD is that my study material does not prepare me for SIMS. is that true for FAR also?

I used Becker and I think I was as well prepared for the sims on AUD as I was for FAR. Sims in general can be tough because they require you to pull from a wider range of knowledge. I also think they're tough because you have to answer them after hours of multiple choice. In general, I thought the FAR sims were more difficult but if you put in the time studying and know the material there is no reason you shouldn't get enough points from the sims to pass.
