can anyboody share any tricks/mnemonics that they rely on? I know some mnemonics, like “CRIME” and I adore the simple reminder from snausages that debits increase assets and expenses and credits increase liabilities and revenues.

Give me what you’ve got, I need all of the weapons my cohorts here can muster up!

One of my favorites is the “HAMBOCI” sandwich (think: Ham on boci bread) to remember the Control Environment.

    H – Human Resources

    A – Assignment of Authority

    M – Management

    B – Board of Directors

    O – Organizational sctructure

    C – Commitment to Competence

    I – Integrity & Ethics.

Another one is CAR for segregation of duties: Custody, Authorization, Recording

(BTW: There is no such thing as Boci bread but it sounds real lol).

I have some more that I'll share once I'm home. I'm sitting for AUD next so I love that you started this threat. Good luck!

Yeah, it's silly but it works. I reviewed this material about 3 weeks ago and haven't touched it since and was able to rattle this off in no time. Who says we need real bread for our AUD tricks if that makes the difference between a 74 and 75, right? 🙂

Jen 5 weeks is more than enough to study IF you are truly committed to it. For each of the exams Ive passed so far Ive put in 5 weeks or less. MInd you I have 2 kids, work 60 hours a week, am taking one class at SNHU per semester.Because I am committed to everything Ive got going on, Ive missed social events and havent seen a television in over a year. If you take time management seriously its not an issue.

financial forecast (think like weather forecast) -> OK for general use

    financial projection -> limited use

Risk of incorrect acceptance (beta risk) – a “beta” male asked you out and you said yes – WRONG MOVE! His variables are actually bad when you thought they were good. Now you are stuck with him for awhile. Not every EFFECTIVE!

Risk of incorrect rejection (alpha risk) – an “alpha” male asked you out and you said no – WRONG MOVE! His variables are actually good when you thought they were bad. Now you have to keep looking for a date. Not very EFFICIENT!

Here's one that helped me with differentiating auditing through a computer (Computer Assisted Auditing Techniques – CAAT) / around a computer (manual audit procedures):

“Silly CAAT, why are you going through a computer? Manual around it.”

It's seriously the only way I'm remembering these terms 🙂

Make sure you know the standard audit report. I kept telling myself that I didn't need to memorize it and I kept getting those scores below 75. Finally I decided that the review courses were right and that I needed to know it. I tried everything to memorize it. I wrote it over and over and over and that didn't work. I read it out loud over and over again and that didn't work. I finally started singing it and that did the trick. The thing with the standard audit report is that once you know that then you will know what the exceptions are without thinking about them.

LMAO, I might have to try singing it… I vaguely know it, know where everything goes and am familiar with it, but singing it just might do the trick on memorizing it!

You should have seen me in the Prometric center humming the tune to Gilligan's Island! They had to tell me to shut up twice! I can remember song lyrics easier than anything else. But what works for one person may not work for another!

Gilligan's Island? Ok, I NEED to hear this version of the auditor's report. Anyone want to record it and send it over to me?
