AUD vs. FAR

I just took FAR (somehow I passed even though I still check my score every couple days to make sure I didn’t read it wrong) and now I’m moving onto AUD.

I’m using Yaeger study material and the Wiley online test bank. I believe the video lectures for Yaeger on AUD are significantly shorter than FAR. Because of that the overall study time suggested (by Yaeger) for AUD is a lot less than for FAR. I’m a little thrown off because I think Jeff in his awesome A71 PDF on preparing for the exam mentioned that AUD has been beefed up to be as intense as FAR.

I put in 3 solid months of studying for FAR. I will have a little over 2 months to prepare for AUD.

Any input as to how much time it takes to prepare for AUD compared to FAR? I think this time around my study habits will be MUCH more efficient now that I’ve been through the process so two months I think will do it. I study about 20 hours per week.

    Appreciate any feedback.

    FAR - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER)
    AUD - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
    BEC - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
    REG - 2013 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES + NINJA AUDIO)

    ETHICS - 2013 - PASSED

DONE!!! Thank you A71 for all the support! Hiya!!!

@mdrobbin…I think a little bit over 2 months is an ideal time to prepare AUD while put in 20 hrs/week. In term of the volumn of materials on each section, here is my opinion from the most to the least, FAR – REG – AUD – BEC. I spent 2.5 months on AUD and FAR each, and I found I under-prepared for FAR and well prepared for AUD.

I agree… 2 months studying 20 hours a week should be plenty of time for AUD… I studied for about three and a half weeks for AUD but I put in around 25 hours a week and 40+ in the last 6 days since studying is my full-time job right now. Going through AUD questions takes a lot less time than going through questions for other sections because there is almost no math involved. I honestly did not think I was studying enough because I felt I put in a lot more time for BEC which I also prepared for in three in a half weeks but I put in more like 30-35 hours a week for that section.

    BEC - Feb 2012: 80
    AUD - Feb 2012: 84
    FAR - Apr 2012: 78
    REG - May 2012: 90

    Thanks Becker!

5-6 weeks at 20 a week should be enough for audit if you are working full time and dedicated

    Reg 77 (Aug 11)
    Aud 80 (Nov 11)
    BEC 79 (Jan 12)
    FAR 80 (April 12)

Depends on your accounting background, but the material is about hald as much as FAR and the questions go a great deal faster… My advice would be to bust it to get through the lectures and then just get your hands on as much MC questions as possible. My AUD exam felt like I had seen several of the exact same questions. Try cpareviewforfree for a good source of questions that provide and explanation of the answers.

    REG - 88
    AUD - 96
    BEC - 76
    FAR - 79

May be 2 months is way too much time. I've covered 60% of the material in 8 days.

CPATerminator, do you work full time? You seem to be a studying machine. I thought I busted my a$$ off but you seem to blow me out of the water when I have read other posts you have written. I gotta keep up with you 🙂 me and you gonna crush this CPA thing no matter how much work it takes!

@mdrobbin..Yes, I do work 40 hours a week….I just wanna get this done ASAP…Pluy my original plan was to take FAR and AUD at the end of February, but I decided slow down a bit. So when I started back on AUD I had already covered like 20% of the material..But transaction cycles are killing me :-/

Good deal terminator. You give me motivation to kick the crap out of these exams I want to be done quick as well. I'm gonna fall a little behind with fiscal year end at work being this month, but then I'm turning it up. Gonna try to devote my life to work this week to catch up then gonna crank up studying to 20+ hrs per week. I'll be right behind you on the CPA train, we're gonna kill it.
