Hi guys, so my exam is this Thursday and according to the WTB, I’m averaging a 77. I’m a little nervous because I’ve done all of the Becker MCQ and the WTB questions and I’m only averaging a 77! I’m using some of my vacation days to take Monday-Thursday of next week off to study all day and my main problem areas are the transaction cycles and Auditing with IT. I guess my question is how concerned should I be with a 77? It’s passing but by only 2 points and thats not enough of a cushion for me to feel all to confident walking into my exam…. Other than going over these two problem areas what else do/should I know, I’m beginning to really freak out as I have anxiety issues and the closer I get to the exam the worse they get….

    Here we go Again

    AUD: (65)(66) 77
REG: (66) (48) destroyed me mentally.....
    FAR: (68) (66)(69)(71)
    BEC: (63) 75

Most people will say you are fine. I personally would just give myself another week and be certain that I am going to pass. If you reschedule the exam before 5 days its only a $35 fee. Join me on taking the exam the 28th! Also make sure that a near by testing center has open availability on that day if you reschedule.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

You have a week to add onto your current level. Chug away at MCQs until you are nailing them all. You should be able to see all of the Audit MCQs in the WTB 1-2 between now and Thursday, make sure you are repeating the answers you are getting wrong until you know why. If you work at it I bet you'll be surprised how things start to click a day or two before test day. Understand the reason behind every answer and you will be fine. The IT stuff you just need to memorize. Good luck and try to relax as much as you can come test day.

@Study Monk I wish I could reschedule it to the 28th as that was the original date I planned on sitting for the exam but that is my period close where I work and I can't take any days off during that week otherwise I would definitely give myself that extra week as I could definitely use it.

@dowd do you think it'd be more beneficial to continously work those MCQ or spend a good amount of time re-reading notes?

I think a 77 using WTB is a good score, specially if after getting those scores you went and reviewed each answers and made sure you understood them. Good luck on your journey!

    REG-89 (08/26/13)
    FAR-91 (10/28/13)
    BEC-87 (11/25/13)
    AUD-96 (01/06/14)
    Ethics-92 (12/08/13)
    CPA Licensed

I think one thing to take into consideration is at least in the case of Becker is their scoring is based on a percentage, where the CPA has a unique (read mindboggling nobody except the creators understand) scoring process. Some questions are dropped the more difficult ones are supposedly worth more. I won't say 77% is good or bad, but I wouldn't use it as an entire basis on whether you are ready or not for the actual exam.

    Definitely agree.

I was getting about that % on my WTB, and my confidence was shot because of it. I had to build it back up again so I could go in and feel relatively good about the test by stopping doing MCQs. But I ended up doing better than that on the actual test. I didn't realize at the time that we're not being compared to perfection on the real test like we are on WTB. Totally different scoring.

Make sure you're prepared for the SIMs also, though. They count for 40%. Are you practicing the WTB SIMs?

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)
